Kate, I really like you...I hope that isn't too weird of a thing to say. Why are you defending her? At first I thought you were the ae and was trying to throw everyone off by telling everyone to back off but now I think you are seriously...what...annoyed that everyone won't back off. This board has beat a lot of dumb issues into the ground, pouches, cio, freaking dandelions for crying out loud. You seriously think this isn't going to go on and on and on. She brought this mess on herself. She could have kept the CIO post on June 2012. She could have left the visiting her BFF part out of her update. But she didn't. Why? She's a drama llama. So are a lot of people and they also get called of their hit. Also, hav has gotten a lot worse than being called mentally ill. Seriously. People basically call her dumb, sheltered....ignorant. That may not be worse to you but it's at least as bad to me. If someone called me ignorant we"d be close to fighting.
First off, not defending her. I just think everybody went too far with only having half the story. Calling somebody mentally ill is never OK and it's way worse being called dumb, ignorant and sheltered. I don't disagree that she's made horrible decisions and I would never make them myself. I think it's nuts to bring your child around a man like that. I also don't think she should and can be the mod here anymore, she's burned this bridge. I just think people are piling on the drama to just pile on. But I think it's a little much to bring her sexual assault into it and then make the conclusion that she must be "mentally ill" It's just too much.
I didn't see anything about her sexual assault. That is a bit much. Why do you keep saying half the story? I keep hearing people questioning things she actually said she did.

When I say half the story, I'm not talking about the pedophile and his crazy wife. I'm talking about the assumptions we've made about Alicia based on choices we THINK she's made. I was always taught you only know the full story when you hear it from all parties. She wasn't/isn't here to defend herself or answer any of the questions, so IMO it snowballed out of control.

I think I was the first one that brought up her assault and mentioned that I think she needs mental help. I don't mean to say I think she's bipolar, schizophrenic or anything like that. Maybe I should have worded it differently but I stand by my feeling that if she's been through that then she of all people should know to keep her kid away from that person.. And if she doesn't see the danger, then maybe she needs help from a professional. Therapist, counselor, etc.
I wasn't trying to insinuate that she is mentally ill.

I see what you're saying and I don't disagree, but after it was said, it didn't continue in this manner.

I still have no idea why she was put as a mod on a board she never posted on. Her first few days here she went delete happy and I'm pretty sure she was called on it and lied.
To clarify: I brought her on as Co-Mod, it was my choice. She had been posting (and was VERY popular with this board and several others) for months before I asked her to Co-Mod with me. I never made a huge announcement about it because it wasn't a big deal.
I'm sorry everyone is so upset with her (I post back on page 2 about it). I'm doing everything I can to resolve this so the board can move on.

Yeah, to be honest, even though at this point I think she needs to be removed as a mod, I knew who she was before she became a mod. I'd seen her posting here enough to know she wasn't a total unknown.
Question about mod-deletes: shouldn't you delete the post and then list a reason why? In this case, it just looks shady, but in other cases maybe the poster doesn't really know why their post was deleted and will continue to make the same mistakes. I think if whoever deleted it had addressed the reason why, this wouldn't have turned into quite the shittstorm it has.
I still maintain I had zero clue who she was and I've been around here for a couple of years.

Ditto this. Someone posted about the new mod, and I distinctly remember posting "Who the hell is Alicia-whatever?"

The easiest way to add GIFs is to C&P one that you find and just paste it directly into the quote box. If it's a GIF that you have saved on your computer, you'll have to upload it to tinypic or another hosting site like imgur. Upload it as you would any image using the [img] code.

If you're comfortable in a bikini, regardless of size, you should rock it. Confidence is everything.

It depends on who is wearing the dentures.

I'm just saying, people have talked worse about me (actually calling me names) for saying I don't read all food labels. Everyone today is talking about genuine real concerns. Where were the mods when I was the bullied kid?

I just spent an hour catching up on this thread after my daughter's Open House and felt compelled to answer this. The Terms of Use have changed dramatically (just in the last month!) and have gotten much more specific in what is/isn't bannable. I must not have read through or been around during the times you were experiencing that because I have no idea what you are talking about but I am sorry. The Terms of Use were incredibly subjective up until now so it's possible AliciaS (and other Mods who were watching this board at that time) didn't think there was a violation occurring.

Sorry for the novel, I just wanted to be clear in my answer to your valid question.

Going forward, any name-calling, direct call-outs, bashings, etc. are considered by The Bump as "bullying" and are subject to banning.

Nice! I'm not a fan of immediate bannings. I like to give warnings. I personally feel there is a range, say 1 to 10 of what deserves to be banned and what gets a warning. I take it all on a case by case basis and as this board's Mod, I have that right. I like the culture here and the mutual understandings about certain posters we all tolerate and I don't feel flying off the handle and banning every single offense is right for this board and it's users.

Any poster giving out personal information: immediate ban! Protecting everyone's privacy is my top priority.

A heated disagreement between two posters where both are name-calling: warning.

I'm also a believer in second chances and after nearly 6 years on this board, I have a good grasp of it's ebbs and flows.
