engorged but no milk when pumping

Baby is 5wks old and I'm strictly pumping right now did to some medication I'm on so I have to pump and dump. But this morning I woke up feeling engorged but when I pumped I barely got an oz total. My breasts still feel full kinda painful and itchy... why??  Could I be losing my supply? How do you know when you start losing your supply and there's no getting a  it back???

    Maybe a clogged duct. Not sure but I would call a lactation consultant if it doesn't improve by the next pumping session otherwise you are in danger of "drying up".

    When this happens to me I find better luck with the hand pump. You could also try hand expressing.

    A good thing that helped me was rubbing the sides of my breast near my armpit. Usually it meant I had a clogged duct and I could feel it was clogged. Rubbing it out helped me get the flow started.

    It sounds like you aren't getting a good letdown for the pump. This happens to me sometimes if I'm too engorged...hand expressing or warm compresses can help, as can looking at pics/video of baby and just pumping longer for me I usually do finally get a letdown after 1015min.

    All of this. Also try breast compressions while pumping to help get the milk flowing.

    Are you sure you need to pump and dump? have you called the Infant Risk line?
