Mother's Day is completely overrated and if your whole day can be ruined by not getting what you want, you have bigger issues than a bad gift giving child/SO/DH.

I have no problem w/ sleep training, but I seriously side-eye anyone who is willing to let their baby CIO for extended periods of time.

Agreed.  That is part of the problem though.  You say sleep training and most people think you just mean CIO forever in their crib until they fall asleep. (Not saying that is what you think)  Or people that do it before about 5 months of age.  That is ridiculous.

    Agree!

Everyone has such good ones today! I also dont care for safari theme or chevron. I do like flip flops on men but DH hates them and won't wear them. Instead he walks around in crocs or other sandals looking geeky.
Also diet coke is vastly superior.

My UO is I think the May board is going through a boring phase as everyone is having their babies! I love the pictures and birth stories but arent there at least some of us waiting to go 40 weeks still?? Where is everyone?

I agree that the board's slow and boring right now. Makes me all the more anxious to have this baby!

    Mine is that I cannot stand a male over 7 to where a thong flip flop. I know it's common and I'm sure you all know or have a man who wears them. I don't know what it is about them, I just can't stand it! It just looks weird. It's has bothered me from the time I was little. Luckily for me my F prefers the slip on Nike sandals. nbsp;

I don't like when men wear flip flops either.

  • I agree that the board has been super boring lately. Went from Cray Cray to dull.

I'm over the chevron thing too.

As for Mother's Day, for some reason it means a lot to me and hope I get a gift. I would like jewelry but something sentimental for our LO. Like his birthstone.

ain't nobody got time for that! I just read some of the rest of the thread and I also have to agree about jungle themed nurseries...and most themes actually. Not for me.

  • Mine is that I know we all have questions and are nervous blah blah blah...I've asked a couple early on in my pregnancy that some of you would eye roll. However, it bugs the crap out of me when questions like "I lost my mucous plug when will labor start?" Or "how long after your bloody show will labor start?" These are all pregnancy specific questions that is different for every.single.woman. And let's be honest, even the women ASKING, the questions knows that there is no answer. And if you don't, than you are not getting your monies worth from your OB. Labor is close..we are all "full term" I've lost my plug twice already and I'm due Sunday.

Mine is regarding Mother's Day. Of course I plan on visiting my mom and MIL at some point this weekend, but on the day itself, I want to relax.  I'm 9 months pregnant and I want a day to be pampered by DH a little, even if that means simply sitting on the couch watching Lifetime movies while he chases the kids around.  Does that sound selfish? Probably.

  • Flip flops are in my opinion the best option for man sandals. Men are gross in all sandals so they might as well get something cheap and comfortable. My husband wears slip on Vans in the summer, which is also kind of gross because his feet must get so sweaty in there!

Our nursery is city themed but has a chevron valance and cover for the chair. My diaper bag is also chevron. Do chevron haters not like it because it's trendy or is it really not your style?

I don't have a strong feeling about Mother's Day. I always send my Mom and MIL flowers. I'd appreciate some recognition from my husband that I'm gonna be a Mom soon, but I also wouldn't be upset if he didn't mention it. However he is already talking about how he wants a new grill for Father's Day.

What about push presents?? Any opinions on that? I say do whatever makes you happy, but to me it seems silly. But my husband and I share all of our finances so every time he gets me a gift I can't help but think about how I technically paid for half of it.

I don't like cartoony looking baby stuff, but I love chevrons.

My very popular opinion is that water retention SUCKS. Lol.

I feel like I'm on the wrong board all of the time. But no, it's the May board!

I'm not jealous of the outside babies... Yet.

I think if you have issues with everyone in your life, then the issue is most likely you. And on that same note, I think it's good practice to go back and read your own posts all at once, on here, on Facebook, wherever, because sometimes you might see a pattern you didn't realize existed in your life, or at least in your reactions to your life.

DH wears flip flops for taking out the trash or running to the store, but never "out"... his feet look weird in them, but they look way worse in sandals.  I think man feet are just odd in general.

The safari nursery theme would not be for me either, although our raccoon theme is probably side-eyed a lot... and we have some chevron incorporated because of the striped tails.

No diet soda is better than any other diet soda.  Being "diet" doesn't make it any better for you... it's like non-alcoholic beer... so why not just live it up and drink the regular stuff?    In which case, Coke is better to drink on its own while Pepsi is a better drink to accompany a meal or salty snacks.  (Soda has been my wine throughout this pregnancy.  Fish should be served with a nice white Sierra Mist... and a burgundy Dr. Pepper goes well with dessert.)

I designed a large dreamcatcher tattoo for myself to celebrate my high school graduation.  It covers my entire calf and cost about the same as my class ring would have, but I opted to get the ink instead of the bling.  My grandfather's profile appears in a crescent moon.  I then designed a large tiger tattoo for myself to celebrate my college graduation.  It covers most of my lower back and was an "all you can sit" deal.  The tiger is surrounded by the same flowers that appear on my mother's tattoo.  DH and I are planning to get tattoos (his first) to celebrate our family after LO arrives.

My UO:  I don't want anyone to know when I'm in labor.  I'm hoping there is some way I can secretly labor at home, sneak off to the hospital, and deliver LO before any of our family or friends finds out.  DH is totally with me on this and is even prepared to lie to the people who have already started texting, calling, and visiting on a daily basis so we don't have a bunch of anxious people in the waiting room making us feel performance pressure and rushing in to the recovery room before we settle in.  Of course, since our family knows this plan, they have stepped up their game to increase their chances of finding out anyway... we're going to have to be ninjas to keep our labor and delivery private.

They make me roll my eyes too. Especially if there are full sentences and paragraphs with vidid descriptions of how someone wants every.single.thing. to go. I mean...do people really think that labor and birth is something they can plan and control? I understand requests like "skin to skin as soon as possible after birth" but some of the requests are just setting yourself up for disappointment, IMO. But I'm one of those "if we are both alive and healthy at the end of it all, that's the best birth experience I could hope for" people...so what do I know, right?
  • I wrote up my birth plan yesterday, and it felt kind of weird.   I feel like since I put it down on paper that the opposite will now happen.

It only has 6 bullet points, though, and a nice thank you.  So at least it's simple!
