Wash-- I'm not crazy! lol

haha, not that you were calling me crazy, but I decided to look into my theory from jnk's post.

For those who don't want to go back.  I asked about jnk's DH's siblings and brothers children in her gender guess post.   This is because I believe that when a male has all male sons, and a couple of his sons has only sons,  it is likely his other sons will have mostly/only sons. (not 100% IMO just better than 50%).  Well since Wash wanted to know why I was asking about siblings and nieces/nephews, I decided to google my thoughts to see if any reseach had been done on it.

Here is what I found. I think it has some cool thinkings/theorys on baby gender trends.

Disclaimer:  As I wrote this is just a theory and I don't believe it to be 100%

  • Butting in. Well, considering that a baby's sex is determined by the father (since the mother only has X chromosomes to give) I think your theory makes sense. I just have no scientific evidence to back it up.

  • I learned a lot while TTC. Men's sperm can have a slight variance off of the 50/50 but no more than 52/48. The very slight difference combined with the right timing, I think can give the illusion of boy heavy or girl heavy. But bottom line, genetics have nothing to do with which sperm gets to the egg first. Smile

I am a proof person --- what research proves that male sperm is no more than 52/48.

I know there is some research backing up the timing of sex with sperm life.

I'm reading "do chocolate lovers have sweeter babies?" and the author discusses some really interesting studies about eggs actually favoring X or Y sperm more than the other.

I am trying to remember which book I have that says there can be slight variation, it is the only thing I have read that slightly supports your idea. Other than that one, every other thing says it is straight up 50/50.

Here is one article from a gender selection and fertility clinic that has just about all the information I have seen everywhere else put together.
