Hello ladies,
I am new here, have been reading the posts for a few weeks... thanks for all the helpful tips and entertainment
You're a funny bunch.
I am just about 8 weeks along and have been feeling super queasy at just the thought of taking my prenatal vitamins. I was taking 2 Nordic Naturals DHA pills (500mg) plus either 2 flinstones chewables or 1 Concept OB pill. But the past week I have been skipping days because I just can't swallow the pills without gagging and feeling awful.
My first OB appointment isn't until next Monday. I'm worried about not taking the vitamins, but what is the point if they come right back up?
Any tips on how to deal with this issue? Thank you!
Re: Aversion to prenatal vitamins
They don't, but not everybody needs a ton of iron. My RE and OB are completely fine with the gummies.
OP, I take the Target brand.
If you eat a balanced diet, you'd get away with just taking a B complex vitamin and possibly just eating more iron containing foods. I've been taking at least 2 B complex vitamins daily (to get lots of folic acid) and have been eating hummus like it is going out of style (good iron source).
I take mine on a full stomach after dinner - it helps (they've always made me queasy in the morning, even before I was pregnant).
Look for foods that are high in folate, like spinach, black beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, etc. Good luck - sorry you're feeling yuck!
