September 2012 Moms

Have you spent the night away from LO yet?

Friday night I'm driving to CT, where I will spend the night, by myself, in a hotel before heading to my friend's bridal shower the following morning. This should feel like a dream come true, right?

H will be here with DD, and my mom will watch her during the day on Saturday while he works, and I'm just feeling panicky about it.

I contemplated leaving early in the am, and doing the 9+ hour round trip in a day, but H shot that down.

So those of you have done it, is he first night miserable, or will the quiet, and the fluffy down comforter make it all okay?

Re: Have you spent the night away from LO yet?

  • Not yet with this one.

With our older one I went away when she was 4ish months and then again when she was 2 (h was home with her though).  We've only ever left her overnight together 1 night.

  • I was fine. I've done it once and will be again in two weeks. I'm only slightly looking forward to it. I'll miss her but I'm more worried that she'll ruin future outings by being a crank to the ILs.

  • I have a couple of times now. The first time was actually for a bridal shower as well. DD was 5.5 months. Since then, I've had to travel a couple of times overnight for work. It always went fine.

I'm afraid my anxiety about it will negate any potential for awesome sleep. Ugh.
