s/o...seriously, what time do you put your kids to bed?

Parents of infants need not wade in.

Reading another thread that had people 'waiting' for bedtime or 'getting the bath going' kind of blew my mind.

My kids are in bed, lights out, between 7pm and 8pm.  I can't imagine having them up any later.  My old bones just couldn't hack it and I can't imagine what mornings would be like.

If you keep your kids up late/r, is there reasoning behind it?

  • My DD is in bed between 9 and 930. It's just more convenient for me. I'm a SAHM and a night owl. Plus DH works 4pm to 4am so I get a couple hours to sleep in bed with DH before we get up about 830.
  • Dinner between 6 and 6:30. Bath between 7 and 7:30. In bed at 8 p.m.

I have 2 co-worker friends whose LOs, age 2 and 3, go to bed around 10 p.m. Then they sleep til 10 a.m. In both cases, the fathers are SAH or WAH fathers, and this is the

  • Bedtime here is 7:30. Sometimes we run late, but I find the girls sleep best if they go to bed around 7:30, so we really try to get them in their room at 7, read a few books, lights out at 7:30.

Both of my boys ds1 is 4, ds2 is almost 3 have the same schedule. Bed between 8 and 8:30, wake at 7am, nap at 1pm for one to two hours.
We really couldn't get them to bed before 8, by the time we get home and make supper, etc.
  • 7:30, 8 and 9 on school nights. DD sometimes goes to bed at 8 too. She loves her sleep, but it's not always possible when she has sports afterschool until almost 6. By the times she has a shower, dinner and does homework, it's just too late. But I don't m

  • Usually between 7-8, unless he is not going to daycare or it's the weekend. I work full time so I love having an extra hour with him at night...usually no later than 9 on those special nights.
