decongestants

I have been having some major sinus issues.  I finally went to the doctor and he said to try benadryl.  He assured me it was safe and wouldn't mess up my supply, but I'm pretty sure I was told no decongestants.  Anyone know if it'll cause my supply to tank.  His other solution was to do a sleep study and he didn't seem to get that I couldn't do that so long as DD was still nursing multiple times a night (plus she won't take a bottle).  I'm frustrated and just want to feel better and to stop snoring so loudly DH can hear me a floor away!

Re: decongestants

  • Benedryl isn't a decongestant. It's an antihistamine. It also makes me feel like I've been hit by a truck.

I prefer nose spray, like Afrin or Dristan. Use it sparingly (I just use at night), but it works great and is unlikely to impact supply. <b

  • You can actually use Sudafed, but you have to use the real stuff, the phenylephedrine, which is the stuff you have to sign for at the pharmacy.  I wouldn't use benadryl because it won't do anything for what you've got going on.  I have used suda

Now you mention snoring.  Are you sure the snoring is because of sinuses?
