Just FYI, there are about 4 million babies born in the US each year.  That is 6 zeros.  4,000,000.  This statistic of 100 infant deaths per year should be less scary then actually driving to the appointment in a car.   You're more likely to get in a fatal car accident on the way to the doctors office.

Just sayin.  I'm not opposed to others opinions, but be realistic.  To each their own.

I find it humorous that you are trying to prove medical facts by quoting a website whose home page is featuring bisexual celebrities.

It wasn't my link, but what does it matter what webpage it's on? The link to the study is in the article - all you have to do is click on it.  Also, plenty of news sites have entertainment news as part of their reporting. It's fluff, but people read it.

Yeah, news sites. Not medical journals or research articles.

Sure, and the study was linked in the article. Like I said - all you have to do is click on it. What on earth is the big deal?

  • As someone who carries hemophilia let me be someone who can shed some light on this situation.

hemophilia can be easily treated, if it is diagnosed. both of my maternal uncles had hemophilia and they were not diagnosed until they were circumcised. luckily they made it through that, but they were unfortunately infected with HIV from tainted blood products and have since died.

personally if we were having boys i wouldn't circumcise, but i do support someone's right to do so.

its hard to blame the circumcision direcly for this child's unfortunate death. usually, as in the case of my uncles, the circumcision is what leads to the diagnosis. unless the mother is a known carrier, like i am, a pediatrician would have no reason to test for hemophilia before a circ is performed. children with hemophilia are usually otherwise healthy, and when the proper infusions of plasma are given they can now live full and healthy lives.

i don't think that trying to scare people is an effective way to get your point across.

  • Wow... Its unreal to me that THIS is how ppl think. Really. The argument that this child was unhealthy and it was hemophilia that killed him is beyond ridiculous. If a clumsy person falls on a knife we don't say "Oh, don't worry about knives. He was clumsy and THAT'S what reeeally killed him."

I don't think this article is "over the top" at all. It's called reality and in spite of the genius majority out there that live their lives as if not thinking, talking about or looking at unpleasant things has ANY affect on their existence these things still happen. This boy could have lived to find out he was a hemophiliac from a scratch on his knee when he was two or three and NOT died. Sadly his idiotic parents were so eager to mutilate his genitals whoops, there's that reality making things unpleasant again for no justifiable reason he got to live 11 days and spent the last two of those bleeding to death.

Oh and another thing, this "to each their own" stuff? Do these little boys getting cut on not have an "each" or "own?" Are we all just straightup admitting that our children have NO rights or individual identity whatsoever? Because I guarantee that if these parents went "Hey son, we were thinking about taking you to the doctor so he could slice off part of your penis. Whaddya think?!" they'd get a real WTF look/response.

Regardless of how stubborn ppl are, regardless of the sad fact that they will keep on doing pointless things out of that sheer stubbornness and the ignorance that keeps in there these stories need to be told and the truth needs to come out even if it doesn't make most ppl think.
