My UO is that I LOVE pixie cuts! I also love long hair but I think pixie cuts are adorable as well. I had a friend tell me that since most lesbians have pixie cuts then I would automatically be tagged as a lesbian if I got one. Hmmm.... I am pretty sure that is not correct. I mean, yes, a lot of lesbians may have pixie cuts but that doesn't mean that EVERYONE with a pixie cut is a lesbian!

I never have any good ones of my own, I usually just end up agreeing with everyone else.
This is what I came up with: I completely disagree with getting a baby's ears pierced. It's not the same as making decisions about your child's healthcare or education. It doesn't benefit the baby one way or the other, so I think that the child should have a say in whether or not he/she gets holes punched through his/her body. I have a friend that recently told me that she wanted to get her 1 month old daughter's ears pierced so that people wouldn't think that she's a boy. She already wears nothing but pink, so I don't know that the earrings would make a difference. I suggested that she try a headband first.

I think walmart/sears/JCP/picture people pictures are pretty horrible.
Hahaha! Well I am at work so really shouldnt be watching this with because of the curse word but I am just listening to it on really low volume
EDIT: Wait what?! this is NOT what I was commenting on....
But since it is here, I think it depends on the photographer. I have had some really good ones that take great pictures but I have also has a pretty crappy photographer before.
I think walmart/sears/JCP/picture people pictures are pretty horrible.
I don't think this opinion will be very unpopular. The chain studio places are the cheapest option, which is why I think a lot of people like them, but I don't think that anyone would argue that they take the best pictures.

Eh, I wasn't crazy about it but it's a family tradition in H's family, so I let him pierce DD's ears at 4 months. I can see your point, but it's something that I think is dumb for me to be judged for.
Mine is pretty lame:
I think it's hilarious every time there's some media panic about horse meat in burgers, pink slime-ish goo, or someone finds something gnarly in their KFC. Americans are blissfully ignorant about the disgusting nature of their food. They jump on whatever bandwagon happens to roll by, but never realize that the majority of what they eat contains absolutely disgusting, perfectly legal filth.

In regards to the ear piercing, I wouldn't do it, personally, but it's not permanent. If the kid doesn't want her ears pierced she can take them out later. Plus, I don't know any little girls who says, "You know Mom, I'd really love to not ever wear earrings."
In regards to the food thing We eat so much gross stuff.

I love that there's actually a standard for "acceptable bug parts per xxx" for peanut butter and cereal. Vom.

Agree. I think back to how excited I was when I was 9 and that's all I wanted for my birthday. It felt like I was taking this huge step into being more grown up at the time and I wouldn't want to take that moment away from my daughter. I was so excited to pick out my own earrings and make this "big decision" by myself.
That and I don't even think they look cute on baby/little girls.

That documentary made me SO sad! Do keep in mind that not all farms are like that. They were showing worst case scenarios, but yes, some of that crap does happen.

My old boss used to work at a local slaughter house. I will never eat grocery store meat again.
Here's mine: I hate almost every scented body lotion and I never wear perfume. The smells are so strong and so fake it makes me kind of sick. Bath and Body Works is my mortal enemy. I have like 5 bottles of lotion in my closet I have never used.
I DO like naturally scented things - lavender, eucalyptus, patchouli, etc. Maybe I'm just a bit crunchier than most... Also, scented soaps don't bug me as much. They're more subtle.

Me too but it's because I get awful migraines from any kind of perfume or fragrance. It sucks, I hate when I'm stuck around other people who wear a crap ton of perfume because then I wind up sick for 3-4 days.

Thank you for backing me up! I love my long hair but really want a pixie cut for the convenience of it! Little to no styling required? Yes please!
My SIL has an awesome pixie cut as do a number of straight women I know. I also know a bunch of lesbian women with gorgeous long hair. You just cannot judge someones sexual orientation by external appearance!
I have/had a pixie! It's getting a bit longer now but it is still definitely short. I've had one since I was 18 with the exception of growing it out for my wedding. I think I look pretty darn good I look way better with a pixie than with long hair, and it is SO easy!

I completely agree with you on this. DH and I were adamant about if our LO is a girl that we won't be getting her ears pierced until she's old enough to want it and then we'll get it done. My mother absolutely disagrees and told me that she would take her to get it done without me if it bothered me like this one episode she saw of Modern Family or something.
I am pro spanking, when used appropriately I think its totally fine.
I have a feeling yours will be a super unpopluar opinion. I agree with you though. When used in the right context and followed by a lot of loving it is a necessary tool IMO. I am however against those who spank in anger or spank because they are annoyed with the child rather than spank to teach the child.
EDIT: To say I am guessing that is what you mean by "appropriately".

I had a pixie cut for years, and I'm not a lesbian. No one ever assumed I was either.
I think they are adorable on the right face shape!
I got a pixie cut back in 1997 when I was a freshman in high school (such a trendsetter, this one) and EVERYONE thought I was a lesbian. Of course, it didn't help that I was brand new to the school system, overweight and had a thing for dressing in men's button-up shirts. Ugh.
And then...AND THEN!...I decided to bleach my pixie cut white-blonde (think: Billy Idol).
Somehow, after a few months, I stopped dressing in menswear and convinced my classmates I was straight, but you better believe I kept rocking that pixie cut!
3. I think it's weird when moms-to-be register for boob supplies. Yes, I will need a pump, nursing pads and other breast accessories, but I will buy them myself.
ETA #3.
I agree with this. I want to nurse myself, but I did not put the breast pump on our registry. I would not put formula on a registry either.

I, too, am pro-spanking, especially younger kids. You just can't reason with a toddler, you know? I will say, I think it's best to limit spanking to deter dangerous behavior (reaching for the stove, playing with electric sockets, running away from you) rather than simply as punishment for regular misbehaving.

I put it on there so I could get the 10 or 15% off once I got the completion coupon. Although I think I added all those at the end after I had my shower.

How is hitting your kid going to make them less likely to run away from you? I feel like kids are like animals. They don't always understand what they did wrong and punishing after the fact doesn't make sense to them. So, you catch your kid and then spank them? Does not compute.
Not quoting because I'm lazy, but I LOVED the modified pixie I had last year. I started growing it out when I got pregnant because I like to change my hair up a lot, but I got so many compliments on it.
I HATE the Target/WalMart etc. photographers. They pics aren't always terrible, but the experience to save a little bit of money is more stressful than most life events. UNNECESSARY.
I don't have an UO today, because I'm sure my thought this morning was not unpopular- as annoying as the "OMG should I call my dr posts" can be, they are 100 times worse when it's your BFF. Not that I am downplaying people's situations or concerns, just, if you think you need to call the dr, then call them.
Oh, maybe this is a FFC, but - I'm all for animals and crap, but I'm taking my daughter to do mini-session for Easter pictures with live baby animals and I totally don't feel guilty about using them for entertainment purposes. It's not like they're getting placed in a shelter after the photog is done with them, they are going back to the farm from whence they came. I might even offer to take some of the chicks home, depending on the breed...
I am pro spanking, when used appropriately I think its totally fine.
Nope. 100% against spanking here! I don't believe violence or fear are good educational techniques.
I respect your view and wouldn't push for anyone to feel the way I feel (pro-spanking). But I see spanking as more of a shock to the child to deter dangerous behavior and a way to get their attention rather than a violent or fearful situation. I also don't think spanking does any good on kids older than 4 or 5- at that point the child can understand punishment and consequences and some logic. A three year old won't necessarily be able to equate a toy being taken away with "I shouldn't touch the stove" whereas a few seconds of a sting to the butt makes an immediate impression.

*shutter*
Here's mine: I hate almost every scented body lotion and I never wear perfume. The smells are so strong and so fake it makes me kind of sick. Bath and Body Works is my mortal enemy. I have like 5 bottles of lotion in my closet I have never used.
I DO like naturally scented things - lavender, eucalyptus, patchouli, etc. Maybe I'm just a bit crunchier than most... Also, scented soaps don't bug me as much. They're more subtle.
I have/had a pixie! It's getting a bit longer now but it is still definitely short. I've had one since I was 18 with the exception of growing it out for my wedding. I think I look pretty darn good
I look way better with a pixie than with long hair, and it is SO easy!

I agree with this. I want to nurse myself, but I did not put the breast pump on our registry. I would not put formula on a registry either.
This is an awesome story! I don't know if you meant for it to be funny, but I did laugh so hard I got weird looks from customers...
Nope. 100% against spanking here! I don't believe violence or fear are good educational techniques.
I guess mine is that ill pierce baby girls ears.
Also- my face is too big for a pixie
Im not against spanking.

Yep....
I know my opinions aren't going to change anyone's mind, but I feel like sharing.
I'm bump crushing you so hard today.
Spanking is lazy parenting. Just because they don't understand verbal reasoning, doesn't mean you have to use your hands.
I've never had a bump crush before!
