Can someone educate me on mesh feeders?

I'm sure it's not rocket science....but I want to make sure I use them correctly.   I understand that I can put frozen fruit in them - which ones would you suggest?  And stupid question - how do I freeze them (i.e. in a container?).   And do I peel the fruit if they have skin?

Sorry for being so clueless Embarrassed

  • We didn't put fruit with skin on it in there, but cut up the fruit in small cubes so they'd fit once they were frozen and I'd put it in a ziploc bag, so I'd have a bunch.  We used ours during the summer, so it was a lot of watermelon and canteloupe.  Bananas are good to put in there too.  Sometimes we'd just put ice in there for her teething.  DD loved this for awhile, until she got the chunks of fruit she wanted nothing to do with it.

  • We just started cereal a little while ago. To occupy him while we eat, we put some cereal in there and he mushes it into his mouth. He LOVES it and screams when you take it away. I am not sure if that is how they are really supposed to be used, but it works for us!

  • My DD loves chewing on them with Carrots and Cucumbers. LOVES cucumbers. (not frozen)
  • The only thing I ever used mine for was pineapple.  I didn't freeze it or anything, just let my DD suck it.  I find them a waste and a mess and very hard to clean.  I know some people love them but not me - used it once and twice and never again.
