Honestly I want to drive him up to vermont and have him declawed there, the method they use is more humane.
I don't think I can get him declawed though and look myself in the mirror after
Yay for Vermont! All our snow just melted, so this would be the time to come up.
I have another confession. I watch toddlers and tiara, and when the girls are especially annoying I root for them to lose. I'm horrible for watching it and hoping for a child to lose at something.
Not that flameworthy... but I want a Frucking LIKE button on here. I feel silly writing a whole response post when I just want to be like "thumbs up".
Maybe flameworthy: I feel like society doesn't learn from our past mistakes. Can we PLEASE outlaw fracking? PLEASE? You are emptying space between layers of rock, and even if you "infill it" you do with a different material with different characteristics. I would like there to be a world for Hugbug to grow up in. Can we try to pay attention to the damaged already caused by this and stop screwing up the planet?
PS. I think Wind Turbines are graceful and not ugly.

I have a male cat who is neutred. The only thing he claws is his scratching post. Do you have something he is allowed to scratch? We used the water bottle method and sprayed him whenever he clawed something he shouldn't have.
No I've been meaning to get an actual post for a while... he has a couple scratchers that hang on a door knob or lay on the floor and he pays no attention to them. DH doesn't think he'll use one because he literally only scratches our couches and they are like a fake leather material, and the scratchers are all a carpeting of some sort.
Worth a shot - our cats eventually moved to the posts and left our couches alone. If you get the catnip spray they will be more attracted to it.

I would definitely try to exhuast your options before declawing. I tried all kinds of scratchers with my cat and she would just sit on them and stare at me. I also tried the caps which came off pretty frequently. I totally understand your frustration and guilt at the same time. I didn't end up declawing her, and never found anything that worked either.
Yes, I know the rest of my life will either be guarding my new couch with my life or he will finally stop... I just don't think I can declaw him. The more I think about it the worse I feel, not just about the initial pain and life long pain he'll endure but also because, although he's only gotten out of the apartment once (and cowered like a big baby, thank god, on the next stairwell down from us) we have racoons that live in our rafters and there are stray cats in the complex next to us... he would be defenseless if he go out and I didn't notice right away.

I wonder if he'll like the spray better than the dry stuff? We sprinkled dry catnip on the other scratchers and he didn't even notice it he's such a butt head

My kitten is 7 months old now, and I'm stalling getting him fixed and declawed. We'll do it, but I hate myself for declawing my cats. We rent, and most decent places don't accept pets. If they do, they want cats declawed. I had to get my 2 adult cats declawed a couple of years ago, and I cried for days. I'm experiencing anxiety and guilt about doing it again.

Ours ignored the dry stuff completely but the spray is like their deity or something. Now if they even see the spray sitting out they cuddle up to it. Weirdos.
Our cat never scratched our leather sofa.... but he did scratch one chair we use to have in our living room...We had a custom couch made and thank god he doesnt scratch that (because I would kill him LOL).....We got two new chairs for the living room and he has recently started to try and claw at them...we use the water bottle and he has more scratching posts than one cat needs...Here is a pic of what our cat does with his 4 foot scratching post LOL...Yep he sits and looks down on us like he's king of the castle!!
Since 2 of you (u know who u are lol) accused yourselves of starting TOO many threads I will say this...
You both do start a bunch of threads BUT im actually jealous because they are usually fun and I wish I could think of something clever to start on here.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.
I'm going to have a talk with her. I'm really hoping her sister who is currently TTC gets knocked up soon.
