I've spent about $700 on maternity clothes so far... I bought a bunch of stuff when I found out I was pregnant, then took some of my Christmas present money and bought more, and I get a monthly allowance for clothes (my husband has to put me on an allowance, or I would go nuts). I have a freaking problem, and I need to stop. The good news is, I've been buying stuff that I can continue to wear after pregnancy. Lots of cardigans and ruched tops. Also, I have one pair of maternity work pants that I ADORE and plan on wearing even when I'm out of maternity clothes.
Now... off I go to OldNavy.com to buy more stuff :-(

I got really annoyed last night with a friend who thought I was having a glass of wine and called me out on it.
1. It actually wasnt wine, and I would have loved a glass of wine last night, but I'm waiting to have one at a Superbowl party.
2. Even if it was a glass of wine, back off.
I hate that ***! If you drank a glass of wine last night, and another one on SBS, it wouldn't do you or the baby any harm!! I had a LOOOOOOOONG talk with my OB about wine consumption during pregnancy. She doesnt suggest one every night, but one or two a week is perfectly fine. People need to mine their business!

My FFFC: I don't like how schools are closed for cold weather (not snow, just cold). How on earth did kids survive a mere 5 years ago when they didn't cancel the school day when it was 15 degrees?
My family all grew up in Michigan, I grew up in MD and now live in SW VA. The further south you go the more afraid people are of anything cold. It's not that hard people, just be smart about it!

I have the same problem with my maternity pants, and even some of the tops. I got some that said "great for pregnancy and nursing." I wore them for like a week after the baby was born before they were too big.

No. They are vanilla mixed with the perfect amount of mint and green food coloring to make them look cooler than just vanilla ice cream with mint. Sure, I could probably try and make them at home, but it wouldn't taste the same for 2 reasons. 1. I don't know their exact recipe, what kind of vanilla ice cream they use, blah blah. And, 2. Things always taste better when somebody else makes it for you. Fact.

I think being closed for "cold" is dumb. However, as a Georgian, I will say that since we have spent the last 50 bajillion years in a drought, our roads absolutely suck when it comes to any kind of weather. Rain = flooding, snow = skidding through potholes that no one ever fixed bc, well, when it never rains you can see them pretty clearly. So while I agree we are afraid, we have our reasons.
Also the next SUV to cut me off will get shanked (did I do it right, BLT?).

Agreed! My sister is a teacher, and just yesterday they closed AGAIN- 6th time this year- one more day until they've used everything up, and they haven't even been closed for ACTUAL snow! (Ok, I agree on closing during Sandy, but that was 2 days, so there's still 4 others!). Soon the kids will be in school year round just because of closing for cold. I'm a NE girl, so while I may not LOVE cold and snow all the time, it's a bit much. Hat, scarf, gloves, coat, winter appropriate wardrobe, move on!
Our lil' diva: late like her Momma: 40 weeks 5 days!

Part of me thinks it's dumb, but at my daughters school we have to stand outside and wait for them when we pick them up. So, when we had those -11 degrees with wind chill days... standing outside with a 2 year old super sucked. I can't say I would have been super angry if she didn't have school that day.
I had a beer on Saturday. Actually, it was this fruity kind of beer (Pear Cider), but I just really wanted one, and I haven't drank at all, and I was out to lunch with my best friend, and we ALWAYS drink those, and I just ordered one out of habit. And then it was sitting in front of my, so I HAD to drink it.

I never realized how fantastic that can be! Then by your 800th trip to the bathroom and you REALLY have to pee and you don't have to fight belts/buttons/zippers. I then think - where have you been all my life?

My FFFC: I absolutely HATE being pregnant. I've been in since about week 17. Knowing my gal bladder problematic and the reason it is, is more than likely pregnancy makes me hate being pregnant even more. I've always thought I wanted more children, but after this I am not entirely sure I want to go through all this crap again. I feel like a terrible mom saying it already. but I am ready to not be pregnant like NOW.

Ahh, but what about the child whose family can't afford a proper winter coat? Do they stand out in the 15 degrees without proper protection?

Eh, I get the closing for cold thing. Granted I am in education, so it works to my advantage, but I still get it. Our district is very large, and because of budget cuts there is no bussing. Also, a lot of our families are low income, so most of our students walk. Some of those little ones probably shouldn't be walking in the cold especially when a lot of them do not have proper cold weather gear. Honestly, though, our district is SUPER stingy on calling. It is a freakin white out and freezing today, but we are still here.

I guess this would make my FFFC that I've never had one of these. I didn't even really know what it was until this thread started. Mayhaps I'll have to go investigate. Along with the suggestion of oreo bits. That does sound tasty.
I posted this on SAHM board and I don't know how flame worthy it is, but I deleted my family off of my fb. They love to attack other people and their beliefs and they all band together. My family is full of bullies and I can't stand them. At 27, I think I'm old enough to walk away from that kind of ridiculousness.
The worst part is that my Gma was involved in all of it. Ive already lost one grandmother and I feel like in recent years, my living grandmother has become hateful and I want to keep my distance from her too.
I don't think it's flameful, but half of my family is completely nuts and I refuse to have any contact with them. Like I don't know if they are alive or dead and they (I'd assume) don't know anything about my life kind of no contact. It's been that way for about 15 years though.
Also, welcome back now that I know who you are!

My FFC:
I had a beer on Saturday. Actually, it was this fruity kind of beer (Pear Cider), but I just really wanted one, and I haven't drank at all, and I was out to lunch with my best friend, and we ALWAYS drink those, and I just ordered one out of habit. And then it was sitting in front of my, so I HAD to drink it.
Honestly, I don't feel bad about it either.
I never realized how fantastic that can be! Then by your 800th trip to the bathroom and you REALLY have to pee and you don't have to fight belts/buttons/zippers. I then think - where have you been all my life?
yeah now THAT I could get behind!!
It is still early, however I know which McD's start serving them first around me. Is it sad that I know that?

Oh YUMMMM. DH asks for mac sauce on his cheeseburgers but it never occurred to me to put it on other things!!
That does sound tasty.

there is nothing wrong with that, IMO. it's also a way for him to interact with other kids!

Um, I would shmex all over John Stamos. Then, now, always.
