How would you feel if your child contracted a disease that could have been avoided with a simple vaccine? I just don't understand how someone could risk their childs life. One of my main concerns is keeping my child safe. I would never be able to jeopardize my sweet baby's health or life.

I missed you. You typed my exact thoughts. My. Exact. Thoughts. I'm just too damn lazy and jaded to pretend to care why a dumbass clings to baseless nonsense.
I put raw maple syrup in my formula which contains a high amount of fat and carbs in it (which is needed). You come back with witty stuff but don't you care that your young baby is getting pure sugar and corn syrup and GMO's. Sarcasm aside.
You have to understand as a mother I feel like I could be jeopardizing my child's life by vac him.
I'm going to weigh in... Anitibiotics contain nasty things. Makeup contains nasty things. Fast food contains nasty things. It's life.
The extreme side effects you describe are just that... Extreme. They don't happen often. That being said, the DTaP and MMR shots affect me in such a way I'm hospitalized every time. I rely on herd immunity because I can't have them. I'm also allergic to the flu shot. My doctor thinks it's the eggs. DD's pedi is afraid she'll have similar reactions so they're spacing her shots. She also relies on herd immunity for an extra month.
The preservatives can be scary. An aluminum overdose can look like other disorders. Read up on which vaccine brands contain the least amount. There is no longer mercury in the vaccines and there hasn't been for years.
Vaccines have not been proven or disproven to cause autism and ADHD. However, I believe it's genetic. I've met a lot of families with children on the spectrum... Apple, meet tree. Even IF they did play into it, I promise Polio is worse than ADHD or autism. Autism won't kill you.
I'm not offended by people who don't vaccinate. I think it should be a choice but an educated choice. I was against it. DSS has autism. I wanted to do everything the opposite of what his mother did in hopes DD could dodge that bullet. I was terrified of it as soon as I got the BFP. Eventually, I came to my senses. As I tried to prove I was right in NOT vaccinating, I instead found I was posing more danger to her that way. I came to my senses.
Sadly, my masters is in autism so I should have come to my senses MUCH earlier than I did. That's my crazy anxiety kicking in!

Um, I care more that he has a severe birth defect that prevents him from properly gaining weight. So I feed him per my doctors instructions. He's ALIVE because of the "corn syrup and GMOs." Thanks for your input though.

Obviously only BF doesn't work for me but don't come at me like I am weird for making formula if you don't want my reasons. I don't judge anyone on what they choose to do for their children. As one pp said, some people can't be vaccined. I had a former student who had a heart transplant at birth and this affected his ability to get vaccines. When we have an "outbreak" at our school for things like chicken pox, he was forced to stay home to prevent him from getting the disease. Even if you were able to get your child into school without vaccines, wwyd if there was an outbreak at your child's school?
I wouldn't be able to live with myself if DS got a disease I could have prevented. He was in the hospital for bronchialitis. It tore me apart to be there and it was nothing serious. I can't imagine what it would be like to have him on the hospital for an extended period of time.
I, like another poster, got my masters in autism. This is what they are saying. Vaccines don't cause autism. Autism is generic. I teach students with autism and each of them has someone in their immediate family with it. What I have read is that those with the genetic predispositions to autism can show symptoms after vaccines. I have a student who didn't show symptoms until after he was vaccinated, however, it is all tied to a genetic link and my student's sister also has autism. I don't remember what news station or publication I got this from, but I can post a link if I need to.

Honestly, the real truth is, the fact that we jumped your a, means we truly care. I'd like to make an appeal to you to go to a few WHO, NIH or APA websites and research the newer vaccinations. Go to your local health department and ask for their info sheets. Talk with your pedi again about it. Knowledge is power.
thanks for being concerned. We've talked with our Pedi, he doesn't fight us on this matter. He thinks we should vac but understands.
I doubt he understands, more than likely he doesn't have the time to argue with morons.

You are the parent and you absolutely have the right to do what you feel is best, but be prepared to face the repercussions. DS had to be vaccinated to go to daycare and will have to be ie school. I'm sure your LO is awesome, but I'm siding with anbeck and wouldn't let DS hang with your child.
Children DIE from this disease. You are risking his life, because of your poorly researched decisions. Sorry, but I have zero respect for someone that reckless with a child's life.
Sadly, she's not going to get it. It's kind of hard to be reasonable with an unreasonable person. I mean, she's endangering her child... It doesn't get worse than that.
I realize you are probably frustrated but this did all start with a thread you posted asking people what they thought of you.
To play on another point you made, the symptoms of autism aren't apparent until the kid has made the milestones they're going to regress in. Those milestones are bigger and are more noticeable, like speech. Coincidentally, this happens at the same time as a major vaccination. Therein lies the 'correlation' between autism and vaccines.
Tula: I didn't realize your brother was a twin! I had a student with autism who had a twin sister. She did not have it. I was always fascinated by them. It was sad to see her pull away from her brother out of embarrassment as she grew older and more socially aware. I always wondered if, had she been born make, she'd have autism, too.
To each his own however as someone who gives vaccinations on a regular basis I feel like I need to chime in on a couple things. I visited the websites of some of the links you listed and there are things they listed as facts that are just not true.
For instance,
Not all vaccinations contain live viruses.
Not entirely related to the vaccination debate but worthwhile since it was a source you cited...while it is true using antibiotics & antivirals can cause drug resistance it od not recommended that everyone receive antibiotics or antivirals to treat an illness. Usually there is a contributing factor (ie age, compromised immune system). The problem stems from overprescribing. Parents insisting their child be prescribed something to treat a cold (no need to waste that copay, right?) & doctors caving because they don't have time or just don't want to argue.
Also one of your sources is from the year 2000. In the medical world citing something as old as that is not a good idea. You are probably aware recommendations change and something 13 years old is probably not reliable anymore. "Back is best." vs. tummy sleeping...
I could probably go on & on but I'm sure you've done more research to come to your conclusion & I applaud that however I'd suggest doing more & looking for credible medical websites in reaching that decision. When I say credible I don't mean looking at more websites that say what you want it to. There are symbols on the webpage that cite it as an accredited health website. (ie. legit studies to back up what they claim)
I hope to god you're cooking this to a full boil for a full minute. Raw sugar substances like maple syrup are wonderful habitats for botulism.
This. If you choose not to vaccinate at our practice, they will no longer see your child. There is a REASON for that.
I've never understood this argument on the bump. It's black and white to me. Very sick and possible dead baby vs protected baby. What could be more clear?

Holy fluck. I am embarrassed by the way everyone is behaving in this thread. To the original poster, if you seriosuly wanted to know why she doesn't vaccinate her children then it should have been in a pm.
Instead there's just been multiple attacks. Actual attacks with hurtful words. I am STRONGLY in favor of vaccinations, but I would never ever, through the safe and anonymous internet or in person, berate and belittle someone like you guys have.
Do you all honestly think you're going to change her mind? Do you think your snarks and quips are going to make her think "oh okay I see now." Absolutely not. Instead it's just been a free-for-all. Go ahead and pat yourselves on the back for being bullies, ladies. You've done a fine job.

Completely right. And I don't think it's bullying when the choice she is proudly making puts babies like mine, yours and countless others at risk. While we're at it, what about the elderly? They're at risk too. How about people with depressed immune systems? Let's expose them too. I don't believe it's bullying when the choice she has made whether it's her right or not is a stupid and DANGEROUS choice. It's not like people are threatening to kick her_ass behind the playground. People are just trying to inform her that vaccinating your child UNLESS YOU CAN'T FOR MEDICAL REASONS is simply the ONLY choice.
Ms Bean, I am with you here. Most of the ladies responding were debating in a very cordial way, BUT when you start throwing around words like "dumbass", "low IQ" and "moron", a line has been crossed.
I realize it's TB and this is just the way it gets sometimes but whether we choose to see it or not, bullying exists even on TB.
