Print out "A-n-n" and it looks absolutely dreadful, but Anne with an "e" is quite distinguished?...so if you?ll only call me "Anne with an 'e'?, I?ll try and reconcile myself to not being called Cordelia.

Anne of Green Gables
I am an Anne and I always tell people that Ann just goes on forever like Annnnnnnnnnnnnn whereas Anne has a definitive ending and to me just looks prettier. For the record, I love my name!
I prefer Anne, but that's probably because I was a huge Anne of Green Gables fan and she was very particular about the inclusion of the "e". Either way it's a great name and would have been a contender for us had LO been a girl.

Man, I loved that series. I don't know anyone IRL who's seen it except my mom. I'm torn on the spelling though - I think either way is fine!

I watched it obsessively as a kid - I saw Megan Followes on an episode of Cold Case and I had such a geek-gasm I embarassed myself in front of my husband.

Yes. This movie will forever bias me toward spelling Anne with an "e"

I like either or as a first name, but I prefer the Ann spelling if it has a name with it (e.g. one of my aunts' name is Ann, but her middle name is Marie, and she goes by Ann Marie). If she went by her first name only, I would prefer it to be spelled with the e on the end.
I think if it was for a middle name, I'd prefer no e on the end.

And it makes me a little sad that most people (in this thread, at least) have watched Anne of Green Gables instead of reading it.

My mn is Ann. I hate it. It doesn't seem complete to me, and I always wished it was Anne.
This exactly. If this baby is a girl, Anne is on the short list. Ann just always looked weird to me. I was so jealous of my friends who had the same mn but had the e.

Agree. Also, I see more people use Ann as a two-part name...like Mary Ann or Carrie Ann.

For me, Ann seems like a nickname (short for Andrea, or Angelica, or the like)
Anne seems like a full, given name.

I don't like Anne as a middle name, but Ann in the middle is cute (it's my mom's mn) and vice versa.
