Re: what did you veto?

Boys: I vetoed Caleb and Jacob. The others were legit contenders.

Girls: I vetoed Emma, Olivia, and Lillybelle (??!!??). Names he suggested that I  didn't veto that he suggested were Katherine, Grace, and Carys.

Ha, you vetoed both of my kids' names (Lillybelle is NOT one of mine). Guess we have different styles. :)

I have done most of the suggesting (and we agreed freakishly fast on 4 names), but I vetoed Kaylee and Julie in discussing a 3rd name for each gender.

  • We're TTC, but enjoy the name discussion a lot. We agreed right away on a boy name, so it's just girl names open at this point. He usually only suggests joke names (his current fave is Mascarpone, nn Kapone) so I just lay along with those.

The only serious one I've vetoed is Patrice. He'd like to name after his mom Patricia, but use Patrice instead. Um, no. I'm open to Patricia as a mn though.

  • Kayla and Hilary. Kayla is cutesy and doesn't grow well IMO, and Hilary is just NMS.

  • For a girl, I vetoed Rebecca (I actually like the name, but have a very bad association with it) and Ryder (??). At first I vetoed Elizabeth, because one of my best friends is named Elizabeth and another friend named her daughter Elizabeth. Ironically, that is now our girl name- DH really loved it, and neither of my friends cared if we used "their" name :)

For a boy, I vetoed Finn and Max. They're just NMS at all. I know there were others I said no to, but I can't remember them.

  • MIL's maiden name.

It's a perfectly nice name, but I felt that the baby was already getting DH's last name, I wanted him to have something different for a FN and MN

  • I vetoed Jackson. I really like it, but as a teacher I see how popular it really is. In one first grade class alone, there are 2 Jacksons, and they go by "Jackson (insert last initial here)"

He hasn't suggested much, so I feel bad vetoing two of his names, but I just can't.

    I vetoed Gunner and Maverick.

That's hysterical, b/c I have a friend from high school who has three or four boys, two of them are gunnar and maverick.

  • I vetoed Tepi, because it is awful and I don't think it is actually a name.
  • I pretty much put every name he ever mentions on the spread sheet.

I did veto Moses as a FN, but put it in the MN column, but he didn't take me up on it. I also vetoed Michael as the MN twice. It was my father's name and it was so sweet of DH to keep pushing for it as the MN, but I was never emotionally ready to use it.

This time I may have to veto Salmon, we'll see how serious he was about that one. Tongue Tied
