Trying to find a name that fits with my first daughter's name which is Paysen. I work with kids and I have trouble finding something I don't relate to past students. So far our agreed upon names are Mckinley, Harper, Skylar and Sydney. With Mckinley in the lead as I've had many Sydneys in class and am afraid Harper will be too trendy. I'm open to suggestions!
Re: Sister for Paysen
Why did you delete your other post?
It sounds like you don't want to go with Sydney or Harper, so maybe you should just scratch those. I typed in Mckinley and Skylar on Nymbler.com and a few of the names that came up were: Kyleigh, Cassidy, Makenzie, and Brianna. Incidentally, Harper and Sydni were also results (which, I remember is how you wanted to spell Sydney before).
First round of Clomid in May 2012= BFP #1, DD born January 2013
BFP #2 in January 2014, DS born September 2014
I love Harper, but it is very "in" right now. As someone who was born in the 80s and given the name Ashlee, it was a pain in the *** to be in school with a lot of people with the same name! There were about 8 other Ashley's in my grade (I graduated with 100 students, so an extremely high percentage).
Granted, mine was spelled different, but that made no difference when someone said the name. To be fair, I like the spelling of my name - it feels more feminine and I'm also named for a man I respect and admire who has the middle name "Lee", so the lee would have been tacked onto any name my parents thought of (Emilee, Kimberlee, etc.). I'm constantly spelling it for people - if it's important (I learned to drop that battle a long time ago if it was something like calling in a take-out order or something silly like that).
I don't think Harper is that popular - I believe girls with the name Sophia and Isabella are in for that type of experience (I think Ashley was #2 for the year I was born with Jennifer being #1), but it is popular enough to have two or three potentially be in her grade
.
I would suggest going to babynamesworld.com and typing in the names you like - they give you options of other names you might like based on that one. I think of McKinley as being a boy name and not unisex (although I do love unisex names and our daughter will have one), but if you type in Kinley - for example - it will give you choices like Kennedy, Avery, Riley, etc.
Good luck!
If you don't want trendy, I'd definitely eliminate McKinley. Mc names are very trendy and honestly I think of the 90s a little bit with those. And you're right about Harper.
I like Sydney, but I'd spell it like this. I am Aimee, and with many other Amys in the 80s, my name was/is never spelled correctly, and it irritates me. Sydney looks nice to me anyway.
One of the first names that popped in my head when I saw your list was Summer. Do you like that? Maybe also Hadley, Sloane, Brynn, Chloe.
I totally agree with this. Spelling it the girl way doesn't make it any less of a tribute to your husband. Ray is so manly (hence why it is assigned to your husband)
EDIT TO ADD: I also don't mind McKinley on a girl. It used to be the top name for me years ago becuase of the way it sounded with my ln. I also like the nn Kinley regardless of how "trendy" it may sound. I like Harper, although it is trendy but it is still a pretty name. I am not a fan of Skylar, just never have been. Sydney is alright.
