So to be clear, no-one else here eats potato chips, pastas, canned anything, frozen anything, pre-made anything (sauces, seasonings, dressings), cookies, crackers, breads, most peanut butters, preserves, ice cream, sausages, deli meats, granola bars etc etc? You also never eat out or order in, right? Just to be clear, all of the above are processed foods ;)

I think you're missing the point. You said you eat these items everyday. No, we do not eat processed food everyday. Once a week? Yes, but not once a day. That's what people are yelling about.

I don't feel I'm missing the point, I think people are lying. What do you eat everyday? You can only eat so many fruits and veggies.

most mornings I have oatmeal wit honey and fruit, for lunch I have egg salad or another type of salad, and dinner is maybe a roast, or spaghetti, or something like that. Almost nothing we eat comes from a box. It's not very hard, we just eat real food.

I hope I get ms.. When I was pregnant with DD I was just nauseous and didn't eat very much and lost 15 pounds. So far, I had a stomach bug from hell and have lost 12 pounds. I am where I was when I started having ms with DD and so far no nausea. If I have ms like I did with DD I would loose even more weight! I would most likely dip down where I was pre DD. That would be wonderful! I am weird, I know.

That is flucking ridiculous!!! Between yesterday and today, I have decided you must be brainless.

I think that was confirmed after she went to the ER for diarrhea.

    Bwahahahaha!!!! I missed that one.

Lmao! I missed it, too, lol!

It was a good thing I went...after an entire day of not being able to eat or drink anything I was dehydrated. I ended up needing iv fluids, but okay...I shouldn't have gone.

    I'm judging the chickfika eaters.

Because it's unhealthy or because of the social/political implications?

I didn't pay super close attention to the frequency. If it's daily, add that to my judgement. But initially it was bc of the social slash political slash general douche implications.

I feel like I am missing something in this convo... can you give background for a curious Canadian? :)

The CEO opposes gay marriage and is against LGBTQ rights.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick-fil-A_same-sex_marriage_controversy

It was a big thing in the media last year.

If you banned every place that opposed something meaningful to you then you would probably never eat anywhere ever again. The fact remains that people everywhere in every franchise have these types of beliefs. Is it going to change? No. So what he doesn't believe in them, he has a right ot his beliefs just like I have a right to be bisexual. At the end of the day Chick-fil-a is not hurting for any business and if anyone missed it they are closed on Sundays so families can go to church, is it really a big surprise there?

Would you feel differently about chick fil a if they were giving money to support the KKK or the Westboro baptist church? This is how it feels for some people.

I probably would however they are not so it doesn't bother me. Has everyone researched every franchise and what they donate to? Probably not. They got the spotlight because of what he said, before then no one even knew nor gave a crap.

I guess it just bothers me that they actively donate money to keep others from having rights that I have.

Yes to all three of these. On my salads I use oil and vinegar or sometimes just lemon. I can my own spaghetti sauce and I don't know how you would buy a roast sauce. That's not something I cook with. When you roast something you make gravy with the drippings from it.

That is lame, sorry. Chick fil a is good, and actually one of the healthier fast foods, though it is still not healthy. I don't boycott places because they have different beliefs then I do especially if they are good. I have 5 gay friends and all but 1 of them eat at chick fil a again. What purpose does it serve? You are more than welcome to your opinion. I disagree. And lol at ME being the cause of a bigger divide in our country!! Not, you know, the one funding hate and bigotry, which you happily continue to support.

For real.  We should just give in to the Westboro Baptist Church as well, right?  Why argue, let's be at peace with them.  As a matter of principal, I don't support them either.  There are other good chicken places that don't take a public stand against something I feel strongly about.

seriously?  there is a huge difference between what westboro does and what chick-fil-a did. Chick-fil-a is not going around the country seeking to harass gays. They simply stated their belief on the subject. Quite honestly I don't see why everyone was surprised they have been openly christian since the beginning, I mean what did people think their view was going to be? If they refused to served gays or something like that I would wholeheartedly boycott, but they have a right to their belief and religion.

You can see my above response about the spaghetti sauce, but I acknowledge that the pasta I buy has been processed, but looking at the back of the box, it says under ingredients whole wheat flour and water. Not high enough on my list to make myself.

I feel sorry for everyone who bought into that franchise and is suffering the repercussions of what that a$$hat said. It's not like Dan Cathy owns all Chick-fil-a's, and I doubt all the owners agree with him. I dislike fast food, but if I'm in a pinch, I will eat there b/c they have gluten free nuggets- it's either that or get french fries from McD's, and I'd rather eat more than just potatoes.

Part of the problem with ChikFil-A beyond the statements of the owner, is where they donate their money.  It's become common knowledge that they support several groups that are seen as anti-gay and borderline hate groups.

(Just further explaining why some choose to boycott)

I'm aware of everything that has gone down in the chick-fil-a scandal (this is the second time in the last few years that I can remember their charities have made the news), and still think it's unfair to the franchise owners for their corporate office to screw them over like that. I know I probably wouldn't have let corporate donations factor into my decision of what franchise to by into if I were looking for a fast food chain....

No, I am talking to you. The book is not really about losing weight. It teaches you how to eat clean. It will answer all the questions you have on how people could possible live off of natural foods.

The losing weight on the cover is just to get people's attention.

Please do not equate bigoted "beliefs" with Christianity.  "Openly Christian" does not = anti-gay or against human rights.  Yes, they have a right to be Christian.  But being Christian DOES NOT mean that you get to put down a group of other people because you claim that their lifestyle is against God's will.  Please.  That's bullshits.

I meant to quite the last 2, but got delete happy. So consider this response to both of you:
I've never eaten at Chikfila. Nor do I shop at Hobby Lobby. I'm all for private citizens having their own personalfuckedup despicable opinions. That's your right. But I'll be damned if I'm going to give a company with those same gross views my money... that they can then turn around and use to support other equally despicable organizations with. Fuckthat noise.

But go on with your bad selves enjoying that tasty chicken.

I don't do much box anything. I make my own spaghetti sauce, own alfredo sauce, I make my own mac n cheeze homemade mashed potatoes, once I got used to the taste difference between home and boxed I just can't go back to box anymore.

I need to be more like you. Do you have Pinterest page or something with recipes I can try? I'd love to break my "box" habit and eat more real foods.

LOL no most of my recipes come from testing and watching and picking things up from food network. I watch a lot of food network. Nerd I know. But I don't keep those on pinterest anywhere. I can give you a couple easy ones. Spaghetti sauce is a bit hard because there is a lot of fresh herbs that go in that one. Tried to teach it to my hubs one time and it went over his head.

seriously? nbsp;there is a huge difference between what westboro does and what chickfila did. Chickfila is not going around the country seeking to harass gays. They simply stated their belief on the subject. Quite honestly I don't see why everyone was surprised they have been openlynbsp;christiannbsp;since the beginning, I mean what did people think their view was going to be? If they refused to served gays or something like that I would wholeheartedly boycott, but they have a right to their belief and religion.
I meant to quite the last 2, but got delete happy. So consider this response to both of you: I've never eaten at Chikfila.

Like I have asked before, have you read into every single donation any franchise has ever given to? Probably not. You are probably supporting those same things with your money and don't even know it.

  • Amarissa - Random question and I wouldn't normally ask, but you mentioned it.

For some reason, when I hear that someone, who identifies as being bisexual, is in a committed relationship, I picture an open relationship. I have no idea why I have this link, but I am curious. I guess perhaps I think my DH would probably not mind if I was with a girlfriend, even if it was sexual.

If you don't want to answer just tell me to mind my own business... :)

Nothing more than causing a bigger divide which is exactly the last thing this country needs. We are more seperated today then we probably have ever been as a country. It is so disheartening.

ETA: And yes, I'm shocked as all hell when someone claims to be Christian and then puts down homosexuals.

. You right Christians have no right to ever put a group of people down, but thats not what happened here. They simply stated they are against gay marriage, im sorry but you can't claim to be a christian and not acknowledge that the bible says its a sin, so I still fail to see how this was a shock??

DH has been really nice and has cooked dinner every day this week. I went to the grocery store last night and bought a personal size Red Baron pizza to eat for dinner even though I knew he had cooked dinner. I snuck it into the house. He left for work and the baby went to sleep. I cooked it, ate all the toppings off of it and threw the rest away. I then proceeded to hide the evidence by stuffing the garbage with junk mail and napkins.

Amazing. Kind of you.  And super stealth.

Exactly! People are missing the point here. Everyone has a right to believe the way they feel, just as you have the right to believe a different way. What I do not believe is being forced to do something you don't believe in or be forced to be taught something you don't believe in. Like Hobby Lobby, how the hell can the government dictate what they have to provide in their insurance. That is BS and Hobby Lobby is not being afforded their religious rights if that stands so you tell me how is that ANY better?

This is FFFC, if yours was that you eat it every day and are healthy, then it appears you eat more beyond the typical box of mac and cheese or granola bar.  Otherwise - who F-ing cares?

    Agreed.

My family tries to eat unprocessed because we feel it is best healthwuse but I would find it hard to believe that most people never eat unprocessed food. Most of my friends eat tons of it, though. To each their own.

Im not sure what Im supposed to consider? You have every right to boycott? I never said anything against boycotting companies you disagree with I didn't even comment on people going  or not going to chic-fil-a. My beef was with the huge uproar. People act like the owner of chick-fil-a had no right to say what he did and he had every right. Thats all I was getting at. That, and the fact that it shouldn't have been a surprise in the first place

Also,  did you know that walmart gives to these same types of groups? To prevent LGBT from adopting their own children and they in fact donate to anti gay religious orgs as well. Go ahead and turn up your nose. You chose to pick on chick-fil-a because they openly made a statement about their beliefs and then make a general statement like you don't "support" companies you know support things you agree with but you ignorantly have not done your research on it either. But now that you know are you going to stop shopping at walmart too?

Actually we don't shop at Walmart because of their impact on local small businesses and other reasons. But that certainly fuels my fire even more, so thanks for the info!!!

And like I said, I've NEVER eaten chickfika; my dislike started long before this most recent disgustingness.

I believe Babies R Us and Urban Outfitters are in this category as well. So you boycotters, I hope you have done your research.

UO and the company they own, Anthro. I've not had a need to shop at BRU before, but I'll look into it. And Jimmy John's.
