March 2013 Moms

Only feel her move really low?

I have never felt my daughter move above my belly button.  I routinely feel her move close to my bladder and low in my pelvis near my bottom.  At my 20 week u/s I was told my placenta was anterior, but I figured I would EVENTUALLY feel her in front or higher up.  They told me that i may feel a little less b/c of this.  I plan on asking at my next OB visit.  I am 30 weeks and gained about 24lbs so far.  I don't know if that factors in or not.  Anyone else have this sensation?  I guess I always thought I would be feeling her more in front by now.

  • I'm in the exact same situation...I hardly ever feel my little guy move. And never above my belly buttonI think he just likes hanging low! I also have that anterior placenta, and my dr said I wouldn't feel him as much. I'm jealous of the moms who can feel theirs all the time, but I just want him to be healthy!

  • I've only had kicks below my belly button too. Mostly on my left side close to my hip. I figure she's just head up right now. I wouldn't worry too much, like PP said she's probably in breech position but you have few more weeks until she should turn.

  • I've gained 26 pounds, so I don't think that's the issue.. I'd think the positioning is more of the issue.

  • I feel my gummi bear move all.day.long...but also not much above the belly button. Most of the movement is occurring in my lower abdomen up to just above my belly button. I figure he must still be positioned with his head up and feet down. I'm sure he'll flip eventually as he still has "lots" of time to do so. From what I've read in a few different places, babes move into head-down position between 27 and 32 weeks-ish. I could be wrong?

  • I was/am the same way!! I would always joke that I felt like she was practicing her flutter kicks (swimming) down low. When I first started feeling her move, she was very low and stayed that way for a long time. I had asked about the location of my uterus and my OB said it looks normal. In the recent weeks, I have noticed more kicks on my side and parallel with my belly button. But the majority is still low!

I have also started to notice at times her hit what I think is a nerve that shoots an interesting feeling "down there". Very strange!! I hope it is nothing to worry about.  I wouldn't worry about it - but always a good question to ask your Dr! Enjoy the feelings!!

  • My girl loves to hang out on my bladder :) For a while I was feeling some kicks near my belly button but she seems to have flipped again

  • My placenta is anterior too but I feel movement a lot up top. I'm 31 weeks tomorrow and LO is measuring very big so maybe that's why?

  • I feel her both high and low but more low than high.  My OB said that she is right where she should be and that was confirmed with ultrasound.  I also feel her in my butt which is a really weird feeling.  I think that the sensation of where she is kicking radiates.
