It is true- I read it in an article a while ago. Pets help kids strengthen their immune systems. I keep reminding DH of it every time the dog does something to piss him off. Which is daily.

this is good because despite my best efforts, our dog likes to french kiss my daughter and when she does, DD opens her mouth for it like a baby bird.

My cat has so much dander that it's ridiculous. She lays in S' crib constantly and I've stopped trying to keep her out. I laid him in there with her today, on top of all her dander, and he loved it. He pulled the crap out of her fur and she just sat there like, "Whatevs."

I fall prey to this because of my background in early childhood education but most of what I learned was reiterating what I already believed.

My SIL reads so many books about child rearing that I don't think she's made one parenting decision without a book. She actually had this disciplinary model she referred to as the "Bark Clap" when her kids were two. That's right, she would bark and clap at her children to modify behavior. Um....

I'm talking about women who have gotten out and gone back multiple times, let their kids be beaten, etc. not the "he has me chained to a toilet" kind of stories. I get that abusers control, but I have no respect for a woman that watches her five year old get thrown across a room and makes the guy dinner the same day.

I won't get too personal, but no. I don't feel the same way about rape, for personal reasons.

You have to know that that isn't healthy or how it should be at all. And if you don't, then don't blame anyone but yourself when you're still complaining five years from now about how crappy this douchebag treats you.

I don't think it's harsh. In this situation, she's being an idiot. When she's 25 and looks back, she will also call herself an idiot.

I see both sides. Most of her posts cause me to face plant into whatever surface is in front of me...typically granite. It hurts.

But, I also keep age in mind. It's huge. My youngest sister also causes me to face plant so there is a bit of, well, slack there. Honestly though, poppy, I get it.

Sure she will. Everyone looks back and says something of those sorts about themselves. I just felt it was unecessary.

ETA: Shes 17 and vulnerable so thats what makes me think its harsh. BUT she did post on flameful and she is very open and wishy washy on the BD drama. I dont want to be snarky and say she asks for it..but she kinda does.

At 17, I was on my own. Working three jobs, going to school and busting butt making a living for myself because I had a shithead mother. I understand both sides of the story and whole "mature" thing... I do... but then again I am starting to turn cheek because I was once 17 and alot more mature than most adults.
