Hot dogs generally gross me out and I do not eat them.... Buuuut, a pig in a blanket, now that's a different story. That's some seriously good ish (although I don't eat meat any more so that out... Wonder if they make any veggie version of something yummy in a "blanket")
I grew up in Tucson AZ, and now live in Southern CA. Not sure if it's a regional thing or if I'm just kind of boring
But I will say, I never thought of putting mustard on a chili dog until I saw it on some show on the Travel Channel, I think it was a hot dog joint in Chicago that did it...
Mmmm now I'm craving a Seattle hot dog which I haven't had since I lived there during college days.nbsp; Up there, they make them with cream cheese slathered on a toasted bun, with grilled onions.nbsp; I like to add mustard, pickles, ketchup, sauerkraut, and jalapenos; basically any topping you can give me!
that actually sounds surprisingly good! Never would have thought of cream cheese on a hot dog.
Nothing I don't like hot dogs. I seriously can not get passed the fact that they are just gunk scraped off the rendering plant floor.
this.
hot dogs are just scrapple in link form.
The place where my husband used to work makes decent chicken-meat weiners. He used to work for a chicken processing plant and they mak e name brand hot dogs and store brand hot dogs, like for grocery stores, Walmart, etc. The name brand variety literally contains the exact same ingredients as the store brand. There is a reservoir for each brand, despite the fact that they contain the same ingredients, they all have different packaging. He says their hot dogs are made of mechanically separated chicken (meaning that the chicken meat has been picked off by a special machine), spices like mustard, salt, herbs, etc. Their hot dogs are not made of ground up bones, beaks, feathers, or asssholes, as some people may think. LOL
This is going to sound weird, but trust me, it tastes really good.
DH introduced me to a Colombian way of hot dog toppings. They put some kind of pineapple sauce and crushed up potato chips on it (or potato stix).
I kept refusing to try it, and then gave in and it's actually really yummy. But not for regular everyday hot dogs. Only special occasions...lol
Yes, i remember going to dinner at my Dh's former co-worker's house, him and his family were South American but i can't remember from where exactly. They were having 'salchichas completas' which means 'complete hot dogs'. They had all kinds of toppings for the hot dogs like mayo, avocado, chopped onions, peppers, grated cheese, etc. I remember the potato stix were a topping too.
Oh, they are SO good! :-) Way better tasting than mayo while still providing a nice creamy "bread lube," haha. The hot dog stand guys would always set up around the bars come closing time -- though the dogs are just as good when you're sober!
Oh, and they MUST be grilled -- none of that pulling a pre-boiled hot dog out of a bucket thing. Yuck.
I wasn't aware that Seattle had it's own kind of hot dog. It sounds disgusting, tho.
I like my hot dogs simple: Ketchup, mustard, onions, and relish on an outdoor roll.
Unable to even.

ketchup, mustard, and sliced dill pickles or dill relish. NOT sweet relish..ew
Im vegetarian, so I only eat fake hot dogs. they taste exactly the same as regular hot dogs because most regular hot dogs aren't made out of real meat either..haha
Re: I must know...
1) Foie gras and Sauternes duck sausage with truffle aioli, foie gras mousse and fleur de sel.
2) Lamb and pork loukaniko with artichoke pesto, kalamata olives, marinated feta cheese and lemon-Dijon foam.
3) Spicy Thai chicken sausage with Thai peanut sauce and toasted coconut.
My favorite is a Chili Dog w/ Mustard
If it's just a plain hot dog, then only mustard.

FTFY
Ditto. I think you have to grow up with it, though. I was born and raised in N. Ky/Cincinnati, so Skyline is my hometown food.
Ketchup, relish, mustard
ketchup, mustard, relish, sauerkraut
chile, cheese, jalapenos
also will add onions to all of the above
oooh, I forgot about this!
