OK a little background: every winter my DD (about to turn 4) coughs a lot. we've had a mix of other issues here and there (like congestion, or a fever, or ear aches) so she'd sometimes get antibiotics for those. that would seem to help the cough too by association, but then it'd come back once the meds were done. i call February "Cough-Till-She-Pukes" month since that's been the case for the past 2 years. nervously awaiting this February... :-/
Anyway the past two weeks she's coughing a ton in her sleep for the first few hours of the night. after about midnight she usually stays quiet. but to stop her 11pm coughing fits lately i've held her in steamy bathrooms with the hot shower running, i've gone outside with her (that seems to work best)... the humidifier has made zero difference, nor has honey. her bedroom window is cracked open now to see if that helps.
i don't really know what to ask, but anyone have any advice? or experience with this? during the day she really doesn't cough, except maybe after running around a lot. last winter i asked the pedi about asthma (cold-weather induced) but they never heard wheezing so wouldn't consider it, she's never had an inhaler.
i'm ready to just move to a warm climate, i feel so bad for her every winter! but then again i dont even know if that's the problem...
sorry this is rambly, thanks for any input!!!
