TTC after 35

Is an RE necessary?

I am debating whether it would be helpful to see one.  I had bad experiences w/REs while TTC #1.  The 1st RE we saw didn't do any testing on me, just referred DH to a urologist.  (Hubs was fine.)  That RE then left the practice, moving out of state.  We saw another RE after m/c #2.  That doc didn't suggest any testing to find out why I was m/cing, he just made a sales pitch for using donor eggs.

I later saw a hematologist & was found to have MTHFR.  After a 3 year struggle & a total of 3 m/c's we had DS.

I will be 40 next month & we have been TTC again since March.  Timing w/DH's job the past few months has been the biggest problem so far, but I'm wondering if I should be doing more, or if there is anything an RE could offer.  We don't want to use donor eggs & can't afford IVF.  I know time is of the essence here.  Any advice?

Re: Is an RE necessary?

  • That's up to you to decide really. You had one naturally, so I think in time you would have another. If you want to speed things up you could see one for Clomid. We are holding out for August personally.
