Feel like my legs are being ripped off

Oh man.. Sleeping is now something I dread. It seems that if I lie down for more than 5 minutes at a time my pelvic area hurts like nothing I've ever experienced. I've tried all sorts of things and it just keeps getting worse. If it wouldn't make me lose respect for myself, I'd totally consider Depends so I didn't have to get out of bed to use the restroom at night. But as it is just changing positions sucks... Ugh... Heaven help me, I've got 11 weeks left.

Re: Feel like my legs are being ripped off

  • +1 for this - hope someone can help! I actually woke up screaming curse words last night. Poor DH thought I was dying... I am no wimp about pain, but that.was.awful - and it keeps happening. I've tried pillows, tried every possible position, but it seems like nothing works.

  • I'm in the same boat.  I don't think I'm normally a wimp and it is terrible pain!  If you find something that helps let me know :)
  • Exactly! I haven't screamed yet, but man, I envy some 80-year-old women now. I try to explain it to him and he just gets a confused look on his face and says sorry. Oh well.

  • This was me the entire weekend, I had so much to but my hips hurt so much!!  Finally got some relief with the pillow between the knees but it's not 100%, still I'll take it over that excruciating pain.

  • Yeah, I wished the pillow between the knees helped. I wonder if my body is having to overcompensate because I've never really had hips before and now they're having to expand. Yes, dumb idea, but just the same, it's the only rationale I can give myself.

  • Yea sleeping sucks now! And I love to sleep! lol but I always have to get up to pee, always have to try to get comfortable and keep switching sides because everything is uncomfortable, and then when I do get out of bed I feel like my back is gonna break! Oh and now when I get up, I keep myself awake for at least an hour because I can't get comfortable again and because I keep thinking of everything and it keeps me up! UGH!

  • I might get some dirty looks for this but say it with me ladies... Tylenol PM! I used to just take my Ambien at night (approved by my obgyn) but now I take the Tylenol PM with it. I sleep for at least 6 hours straight before my bladder wakes me up and if I dont get enough sleep im more sore the next morning from tossing and turning.

  • I toss and turn trying to get in a comfy position to sleep then once I get comfy, I had to go pee. so the process starts all over again. I have a temperpedic bed and before I was pregnant it was the best bed ever now I hate it because its not soft like a pillowtop : and the whole pillows between the knees never worked for me... Good luck !
  • This was me last week -the pain was so bad I couldn't sleep and I could barely walk.

I discovered that doing a couple of things during the day helped relieve the pressure at night.

    1) Sitting cross-legged as much as possible during the day, and
    2) Doing deep squats.

Sitting cross-legged helped with the hip pain and the squats helped with the pelvic pain (though the pelvic pain is still not good).  The cross-legged sitting is really what has made the biggest difference though.

However, I should add that it is still excruciating to rollover.

When it was at its worst, sleeping on the couch helped my hips a lot (it hurt my neck, but that was more bearable).  So it might help to try different sleeping surfaces.

Hope this helps someone other than me!

  • I have admit to have started the Tylenol PM. It helps dull the excrutiating pain of my hips about to rip apart and keeps me to one pee call a night. When I do wake up and hobble to the bathroom at 3am I am out of it enough to be able to get back to sleep pretty quickly,
