OP, if you don't want to just take the antibiotics, to back to the doctor and get a blood culture.
The trouble with blood cultures is a negative result doesn't exclude infection, and there's about 3% risk of false positives as well. There are definitely medical uses for a blood culture, but I'm not totally sure it would give clear results in this case. Although, if the insurance will pay for it, it wouldn't hurt to have additional information.
-My son was born in April 2012. He pretty much rules.
Garlic and GSE are both quite strong antibacterials.
I'm impressed with myself I've managed to go this far without using the phrase snake oil.
Had to look up GSE. Looks like the independent research has shown it to be a dud except when applied directly to cultures, and just about any oil will kill cultures when applies directly. Garlic is freaking delicious and I highly suggest eating as much of it as possible for culinary reasons. But don't eat it thinking it's anything but a delicious, delicious placebo.
GSE isnt an oil. Enjoy your antibiotics. I haven't had one since I was 16, and my children have never had them. Antedotal I know, but I'm going to keep on with my snake oil remedies.
i find this fascinating. What if someone came down with AFB? Or one the more serious bacteria?

it doesn't exclude infection and it may give false positives, but it could still help narrow down which empiric therapy to choose. We still use cultures all the time, despite the room for error.

You would be sicker than a nagging cold. Symptoms would be escalating as your system wouldn't be able to keep up. And you would go to the doctor at that point, because that is what doctors are for.

ok, I know that, I was just asking if you always use your home remedies or if you eventually tap into modern medicine.

Obviously Ice cream isn't my first choice but it was the only thing I can get down I have also tried tea, soup but the ice cream gave some relief to my throat

No, it gave instant relief to your throat, but end run is probably contributing to keep you feeling crappy. Grow up. Seriously.
I have been using a humidifier for 2 months. I have been drinking hot liquids I have gargles with salt water I have eaten only ice cream for meals I have taken mucinex for almost 2 months I go to bed early when I can
I have been waiting it out but it seems to be getting worse throat starting bugging me Wednesday of last week. Not even a bit better today
Ice cream? Sugar feeds infections and lowers your immune system.
Sounds like a sinus infection, throat and ear pain. And if you have experienced vertigo, or tooth pain--then there you go. You can either flush the sh*t of your face (aka massaging your sinuses) by drinking a good (but not dangerous) amount of water (lay off the sugar and salt)-hoping to get things moving again. But, personally I would take the antibiotic. and start eating normally again.
I have used antibiotics a couple times in the past---but now I know the signs that a SI is coming on (tooth, ear, throat pain) I drink plenty off water and lay off the salt/sugar.

Also, milk can contribute to mucous production when you are sick.

a majority of sinus infections are viral.
I'm starting to twitch
