Do you ever plan on him going by Jack or Jax? I feel like they are almost two different names. If you were thinking "Jackson but unique" then just stick with Jackson. But if you are drawn to Jax then do Jaxson.

Yeah, I love the name, I personally dont care how its spelled, but liked how the X in Jaxson looked. I dont think hubby cares either way, but "Jackson/Jaxson" is the only name we have agreed on...

I dont ness care what "other people" like or dont like, but everyone says "Jaxson" spelling looks weird...I was just wondering how others would see it or "prefer" it to be spelled, if that makes sense ;-)

I personally don't like the name with an x but if you're truly looking to name him a "Jax" name vs a "Jack" name, go with Jaxon. The "x" and "s" in your spelling makes the name "jacks-son" if you pronounce it the way it's technically spelled.

IMO, Jaxson looks misspelled. I prefer Jackson. However, if you don't care what others think, spell it however you choose. Keep in mind that it will have to go on a resume some day.

Yup. Would you want a "you-neek" name on your r?sum?? And the automatic stereotypes that are associated with that type of name to be associated wth your child?

TECHNICALLY, if you wanted to use an x, the s is completely superfluous. Jaxon said out loud is pronounced the saame as Jackson. X makes that nice ks type sound and all.

I don't have much of an opinion when it comes to spelling. I don't think it's so far off from what the name is that he'll have much trouble with it, he'll just have to clarify "Jaxon with an X"...No different than my having to tell people "Kaitlyn with a K" Although I usually have to spell the whole thing out anyway because Kaitlyn/Caitlyn, Kaitlin/Caitlin, and the newer Katelyn/Catelyn. It hasn't ruined my life, lol, I don't think he'll care much.

I thought Jaxson looked a little odd but Jaxon I think looks about right for an X in the name.

Jackson. That's my son's name, and before we named him, I thought I liked Jaxon. I have since seen other kids with it spelled Jaxon, and I'm really glad we went with the traditional spelling.

Jackson is so much better than either Jaxson or Jaxon. Trendy, cutesy spelled names are one thing for a little kid, but for an adult......a 40 year old professional man? Totally different ball game.

Besides, so many people have used the "x" to try to be unique, that it's almost as common as the properly spelled name.

Or if you're going to use an 'x' then take out the 's', it's redundant. 'X' makes the same sound as 'cks', so in my head, when I see "Jaxson," I hear "Jack's son." Just saying.

Or just totally ignore me because, like PP have said, it's your kid and you should name him whatever you want and spell it however you like. You're not obligated to satisfy anyone else's tastes, you know?

Personally I much prefer Jackson. If you wanted his nn to be Jax not Jack, you could always spell the name traditionally but have his nn be Jax anyway

I'd go with Jackson, for sure. Personally, I care very little for names that are spelled 'differently'. My mother chose a you-neek spelling for my name and I've sworn to avoid doing this to my child. The more out there they are, at least to me it looks like the parents are uneducated. But really that's just my opinion - if it's something that you like a lot, go with it, although you and your son will probably have to correct a LOT of people when spelling the name.

Please don't spell it the "uneek" way. Your son will constantly be correcting people and having to spell his name out. Imagine how he will feel if you are already tired of hearing people comment on it. Jackson is better.

If you go with Jaxon or Jaxson, he is going to have to correct people all the time when they are spelling his name. I remember having to correct people on spelling my last name all through school and that was only my last name. I can't imagine doing it with my first...

My son is one of a million Jackson's out there and I wished I had just left it Jack. He will never be called "Jackson" and Im kind of mad I didnt speak up that I wanted it shorter. The only reason we went with the -son is because it flowed well with his MN.

NMS, I would go with Jackson. But if you like the nickname "Jax" then I'd drop the s. As a teacher, I'm not a fan of the unique spelling. Just imagine how your son will be dealing with things throughout his life. Getting papers and possibly ID cards with his name spelled wrong. Constantly correctly people's spelling and pronunciation. I married into a VERY long and unique last name, and 7 years later all the "How do you pronounce that?" and all the butchering of my last name are starting to wear on me.
