  • I had a glass of wine with dinner last night.  Gasp!
  • I love my friends, but I was so happy when they got power back and moved out of our house.  They were only here for 2 days, but when I get home, I like it to be quiet.  They have 2 noisy boys and my friend is very go-go-go, I would walk into the house and feel on edge.  Your my bff, but don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

  • Even though the doctor said we could give Lo dairy I really haven't. Shes had some cooked things with milk in them but I'm too afraid of her having a reaction or getting sick that I haven't pushed it. My mom and MIL don't know so they've been giving her yogurt and pudding and nothing bad has happened but it made me feel really guilty that I was leaving it for someone else to deal with.
  • We were at Target at 9pm on a school night and I let my kids (not baby) slurp down a coke so I could shop in some peace.

I felt secret bump eyes watching.

The kids were so wound up.  On the car ride home they were laughing and telling jokes about "Mr Hotdog"Huh? "Huh?" They then let me in on a sibling secret.  Apparently they call Oliver's penis "Mr. Hotdog" and Audrey calls her vagina "Mrs. Hamburger"  Oliver then exclaimed "That is one hamburger I'll never eat." Indifferent I about died!

  • For random reasons, while on vacation the other week, I got started thinking about how I used to love reading tarot cards. When I got home, I pulled a simple 3 card spread and freaked myself the f uck out with how accurate it was. For intance, one of the cards I pulled is a card very specific to travel by air, and this was the day before dh was flying to Dallas for his job interview. I then did about a dozen readings simple ones for friends in another fb group I'm in, and it was f ucking creepy how spoton they were too. Like, one card is very specific to being pregnant with a boy well, she is pregnant, and she had her anatomy scan yesterday boy. I even did a 3rd party reading for a friend's brother who was having a custody hearing that next day with his crazy stbxw, and the cards I pulled pretty much predicted the outcome of the hearing perfectly. Part of me is proud of this ability insert huge eye roll from skeptics, part of me is totally freaked out about how specific and on point these readings have been.

Wow. You clearly don't love your baby very much.

I'm kidding if that's not clear. Stupid mobile bump won't let me do a smiley face.

My confession is similar: I haven't had any wine during this pregnancy. but I may have a very small glass this weekend.

Now you've got me curious about tarot cards.  I don't believe in most of that stuff, but haven't got much experience with it.  In fact, the only experience I have was at my friend's bachelorette party where there was a fortune teller.  He was ridiculously useless and my bff and I were laughing at how pathetic his "predictions" were while most of the other girls were amazed by how insightful he was.  But now I want to know how tarot cards work!  There are pretty specific meanings to the cards?  I was always under the impression that they were very general and could be interpreted to fit your needs, but from what you're saying it sounds much more specific.

But she had one glass. She didn't say she was drinking every day or whatever. She didn't even say how big the glass was. Studies have show that light drinking in pregnancy is okay - https://news.discovery.com/human/alcohol-drinking-pregnant-women.html

The study, which found no evidence of harm from having a couple drinks a week during pregnancy, was so well done and its findings so conclusive that it ought to become the final word in the field, said Fred Bookstein, an applied statistician who studies fetal alcohol spectrum disorders at both the University of Washington, Seattle, and the University of Vienna.

The study also said this surprising note!

In fact, pregnant moms who are able to kick back and relax a little may even give their children a developmental leg up, at least for the first five years of life, which is how far the study tracked kids.

  • I am absolutely dreading telling my ILs that I am pg.  We do not have a good relationship with them anymore and rarely talk to them.  I can only imagine the comments (to us and behind our backs) and I don't want to deal with it.  I really wish DH would just tell them on his own without me there.

While I consumed more than my fair share of alcohol in college and the first couple years after I graduated, I don't drink anymore (unless we are in a tropical place at an all inclusive resort, then I like some fruity frozen drinks).  I have never really understood why so many of the women on our board drink so much and so often. (not judging, I just don't understand why it is appealing at this point in our lives)  And I definitely don't understand drinking during pregnancy at all.  I know people do it, and that is fine since it is their pg, but it is not something for me.

I want a minivan.  If we can sell our house, getting a minivan is the first thing I want to do once we sign the papers.  I can't fit two car seats rear facing in my car, so I need to upgrade.

ETA:  I am SO sick of politics... and comments like the one above about yelling "hahaha" to the Romney supporters makes my blood boil. I am over it and I wish people (from both "sides")  would just move on.

I don't know if it's the same study, but I remember reading a criticism of a similar sounding study where they suggested that "moderate" drinking during pregnancy resulted in a higher IQ.  It turned out that the women who were doing "moderate" drinking during pregnancy were all upper middle-class, which has its own associations with IQ levels, while the women who either completely abstained from drinking or drank "heavily" while pregnant were all from a lower SE background.

Personally, I give drinking, especially early in pregnancy (I've heard of doctors recommending a glass a week in third tri), a side-eye.  I know that the real concern is with having too much, but since they don't know what that is and I've seen the repercussions in students I've taught I don't understand having more than a sip of your SO's drink or something.  I wasn't going to say anything about the confession of one drink, but I don't agree with doing it.  What I really don't want to see is for those who DID say something (they didn't flame, just voiced their opposition) to get torn apart.  Come on, ladies!  If BM doesn't deserve a flaming for drinking one glass of wine, KU certainly doesn't deserve one for saying she doesn't think it's a good idea.

    1. I have not had any other alcohol at all this pregnancy

    2. It was a small glass - about 4 -5 oz

    3. It took me a whole hour to drink it (I was savoring it)

    4. I was able to enjoy the company we had over

    5. It was white, not red (not that it matters)

Good for you!  That sounds awesome. I have Monday off, too, and if MH did, I'd consider doing the same! Big Smile

    I have three.

    1.  I was planning a surprise weekend getaway for MH (our first overnight trip without CK), but I had to cancel because of the money we'll be spending on CK's ear tube surgery.  I was somewhat dreading the trip and being away from her, but I know we need to try an overnight without her (we haven't been avoiding it, we just haven't had a reason to go out of town).  Now that it's canceled - I'm actually so bummed we're not going to get to do it.

     2.  We're TTC and I have considered skipping the months that would put my due date too close to CK's 2nd birthday.  I feel a tremendous sense of guilt at the thought of taking the attention away from her!

  • Maybe not wine, but I did have two cold turkey sandwiches last week.

I have been craving them so bad and they were delicious. I personally wouldn't be comfortable drinking while pregnant, but I do believe everything in moderation is okay.

Wow...  I started some fun, eh?  Will it help if I clarify?

    1. I have not had any other alcohol at all this pregnancy

    2. It was a small glass - about 4 -5 oz

    3. It took me a whole hour to drink it (I was savoring it)

    4. I was able to enjoy the company we had over

    5. It was white, not red (not that it matters)

    6. I love my unborn child

You don't have to justify yourself.  For the record, I've had sips and glasses here and there for the last 23 weeks.  After 18 weeks... let's be honest... mostly glasses.

I have Monday off and DH and I are taking J to daycare anyway and have a day of shopping and lunch. I have never looked forward to a Monday in my life!

    3.  I have been posting on this board since I got KU, and have always felt like an outsider of a clique.  I feel like lately, it's gotten even more clique-ish.

I've always felt like I'm an outsider of a clique on this board as well.

Ditto.   But I have always been this way.  Even in HS, I belonged to the cool clique but never felt IN.  I was on the fringe of cool but never quite there.  :)

Same here, but as BeesMomma said, I've kind of always been that way. With my friends IRL, I always just feel out of the loop.. or not fully in the "cool kids circle" or whatever it's called.

Maybe that's just because I'm a dork at heart. Geeked

  • I'm struggling here. Are you guys confessing your own insecurities or ragging on other board members? Can you elaborate on why you don't feel included? I genuinely don't understand.

I've always felt like an outsider on other boards but never here. And you guys are as regular as I am. I'm freaking FB friends with some of you.

I never thought of any bumpie of an outsider, especially you. BTW I may add in a visit to the salon to get my hair colored on Mon.!

Pear, I couldn't stop laughing with your comment.

Mack, I was eating lucky charms when I read that and almost spit it out!
