Snack Sharing?

DO you let your LO share their container of snacks with other LOs?

Today Bo bullied this other kid into giving him some Cheerios ( I spoke too soon on the Cheerio hater in him!) I tried to show Bowen *his* container of goldfish, but he wanted the other LO's snack!! The other mom was cool--joked about it--and gave Bo as much as he wanted!

What do you do? I really do not care if we share; as long as the parent of the recipient is okay with it.

Re: Snack Sharing?

  • I answered and now my post isn't there!

Anyway, what a better time to teach them how to share then now? I'm all for sharing. My BFF's daughter and Maddie share snacks and sippys. The sippys are a little much for me, but oh well. We wouldn't do that with a total stranger!!! Lol

  • I think it's totally fine as long as I think the neither kids doesn't seem sick and the parents are cool with it. I agree with Covert, it's a great opportunity to teach them to share.Smile

  • I have no problem with them sharing! He shares sippies with my niece too. I definitely wouldn't allow that with a stranger!

  • I'm definitely not a fan of sharing sippy cups.  I wouldnt share a sippy type cup with my girlfriends - so I dont expect my LO to...  Even my twin sister's kids - we dont share cups.  Hello backwash?!?

Snacks on the other hand - I'm all for teaching her how to share her snacks.  Ry and her BFF Jack share snacks often and so far, so good...

Makes sense! But LO and his cousin insist on stealing each other's cups, and she LOVES "feeding" him. We try to keep it at bay, but sometimes they share before we notice, and take them away.

Oh yes I let them share snacks! They're used to sharing snack anyway. Abby shared some spinach and cheese sandwich with Rylee Sunday. And then Jk shared some of Rylee's grapes with them. Big Smile

Because we're all givers like that... :-)

PS: Rylee is probably going to be upset the girls shared that spinach sandwich - I'm gonna hide that stuff in her food next week!  Hehehe....

  • fine with me. I always pack extra animal crackers because my nephew and friends kid always want Owens (but my nephew has the same kind at home and won't eat them! kids!)

  • If the other parent is okay with it, I am as well.  We are in several groups where there is time for snacks, and pretty much an open container is fair game ... Like a baby potluck.

That is a cute way to put it!

Phew! I was worried the other mom was okay with it as a front, but then thought "geesh! why doesn't this lady watch her snack stealer"!

And Jak.. how do I make a spinach and cheese sandwich?

  • I don't care if it is someone I know.  DD shares snacks with other LOs in our MOMs group quite often.  They don't understand his/hers/mine yet so it is pointless to try IMO.  And I will let other LOs have as much of DD's snack as they want as well.
