my cousin's lil one is turning 1... Any ideas what to get??? We don't have many friends with kids so this is new territory for us, any help would be appreciated!!!!
Married my best friend 09.18.11 TTC since 12.10.11, BFP #1 02.10.12 Baby E born 10/18/12. 8.5lbs and 21in of pure perfection!
Is he/she walking yet? If not, one of those walk behind toys that have wheels so they can learn to walk are great.
Otherwise at that age, they love anything that is like the "toys" mommy and daddy have. So things like toy phones, toy keys, etc. At that age someone gave my son a "wheel barrow" full of the big huge lego blocks that he liked to dump out and put back in the wheel barrow several times a day. That was about the age DS started carrying around his "lovey" blankie too. So maybe a nice soft blankie thats bigger than a receiving blanket. GL!
These are things DD was given or I purchased around that age and she even still likes playing with them at the age of 3: Little People blocks, Mega blocks, VTech Learning Walker, Leapfrog music table, Leapfrog Scout or Violet Dog.

I've gone to two 1yr old birthdays and got them this Mickey Mouse plane. They can ride on it and it lights up and the propellers spin and all that stuff that babies like. The kids immediately would play with it so I think it's a winner
Find a cute medium sized gift bag and some tissue paper and fill it with:
Pack of Juice boxes, (if you have kids of your own u can break the pack up), The gerber fruit squeeze pouches, and any other gerber snacks in the babyfood aisle at the grocery store. If your concenred about what they feed the kids you can always select the organic brands?
Its been a hit at my own kids bday and others i have passed along too. Its stuff they reconzie and stores up your snack cubbard for on the go. I was thrillled!!!
Less toys...and i find that 1yr old toys "expire" quickly...to babyish later on.

You should get the LeapFrog My Pal Scout or My Pal Violet depending on the gender of the child. DD #2 loved this toy when she turned 1.
