It was ranked #3 the year I was born, and I was always one of many when I was growing up, but when all is said and done it's a very traditional, classic name. I think it's a good example of popular vs trendy.
Good question! I have always liked my name - Vanessa Eva. I like that my name has never been overly popular, yet it's not unusual and most people find it easy to spell.
My name's Diana. I was neutral on it growing up, but I like it now and it really suits me.
What's WILD to me is how many people have been getting it wrong lately, say within the last 1 or 2 years. I guess Princess Diana is far enough gone from the collective public memory that people don't recognize the name? I have no idea, but if one more person asks me how I pronounce my name (Deena, Dinah, Dana, Diane), I may scream. Seriously, yall, the name's been around for thousands of years - get a freaking clue.
I never really cared for my name. My name is Ann Rose. I was named after my aunt and grandmother. I disliked it because it was an old lady name and Ann is so short and boring.
I've always loved my name...Shayla. It was my dad's favorite Blondie song when I was born. Growing up I had never came across another Shayla, but I liked it that way. It is still a very rare name but I do hear it once in a while on younger girls. Its really weird when you hear such an uncommon name yelled out in a store lol. My only beef with it is that since it is an uncommon name people get it wrong all the time....Sheila, Shyla, Sharon.
My name is Allison and I didn't like it growing up but it has grown on me. Most people call me Ally which fits me well but I would have hated not having a more formal name to use. The most annoying thing about my name is all of the different spellings, no one ever spells my name right.

I like my name. (Amy) I only knew one or two others in school and now it just suits me. My dad wanted to name me Aubrey after his favorite Bread song, but Amy won and I went on to coincidentally name DD2 Aubrey.
I like my name, but I was about the 20+ girl in my HS class with the same name and I work with 2 other girls with the same name and I only have 8 other co-workers.
I think when naming my DD I didn't want a top 10 name but a top 100 name so she wasn't UNEEK!

I hated my name growing up and wanted to change it constantly (but I believe part of that was grief from losing my mother so young). My mother was a young mother, she opted to spell Desiree as the below without the periods to hide google. In the past four years, I've grown to love it. I've only met one other person with the same spelling as my name, but knew a total of five Desiree's growing up.
I've never met anyone with my name...Bryna (breena) and I'm so thankful! I love having such an original name.

I like my name. It was not a popular name when I got it and I didn't meet another one until I was in 8th grade. We then became best friends, which confused the heck out of a lot of people. My name became unbelievably popular in the late 80s and early 90s and now I meet people with my name constantly, but almost none of them are over 25. I consider myself and my best friend trendsetters.
Over-40 parents...what we lack in vigor, we make up for with cunning.
I never really cared for my name. My name is Ann Rose. I was named after my aunt and grandmother. I disliked it because it was an old lady name and Ann is so short and boring.
My name is okay with me. I have a formal name that works well for work, and I have a ton of nicknames. My name was pretty popular when I was a kid, so I knew a lot of other girls with my name as well.
My name is Krista. I like it. When I was younger it used to irritate me a little that I could never find anything with my name on it, but at the same time I was proud to have more of an uncommon name. I only recently met a girl that spelled it the same way I do, and I much prefer Krista to Christa.

I am not a fan of my name. It's unisex and I really didn't like that growing up (esp being a tall girl). It's not a horrible name, but I personally would like a girly name. Or an name with possible nickname, which I have none.

I think Ann Rose is lovely!
I think Ann Rose is beautiful too! They are my mom and grandmother's names.
And I think the nickname Annie is so cute.

It was popular when I was growing up, so once I got out of my small elementary school there was always another person in my grade with the same name. I had two friends in college with the same name. But that never really bothered me.
I have a name that also has a nickname that I like. I go by both. And I think the name has aged with me.

I like my name. I knew plenty. We always had the -in vs. -en debate. I was always of the opinion that it makes more phonetic sense to spell it Kristin. Oh, well...
I don't love it, and I don't hate it. Shannon is clunky to say, which is why I sometimes don't like it, especially with my long Polish last name. But I liked it better than most of my friends' names growing up, so I guess that is something. I do love my mn, Jaye, though. Definitely original.
I have no strong feelings about my name other than anyone who hears or reads it expects me to be a lot older, like mid 50's to mid 60's. Sandra. I never hear it anymore, which is kind of nice but apparently it was super popular in the early 1950's. My mom was a cheerleader in highschool and out of 5 girls on her squad, 3 were Sandra's.
My name is okay, I almost wanted to go by my middle name, Morgan starting in grade 3. Since some kids we're calling me Ashtray when I came back from the restroom one time. I hate having to correct people when they spell it wrong, it's A.s.h.l.e.i.g.h. kthx. Also, I knew three others in my grade 5 class, it was split but we were usually always doing something with the "other side of the room". We all spelled our names differently, Ashlee, Ashlei, Ashley. I hardly meet any now, occasionally we'll be out and I'll hear a mom say Ashley, where are you?!

Both my first and middle names are very popular for the year I was born. I picked out a classic name for DD well before she was even planned. The problem is the year we got pregnant it was in the top 20. : oh well.
I have posted this before, but I will again. My name is Aimee. I kind of have the opposite experience as some other people, where I really loved my name as a kid because it was spelled differently, but it really annoys me now. No one ever spells it right, even after I correct them. Just recently at two different places of business, I found out that my account was listed under "Ainee." WTF? I would've preferred my name to be Amy, but oh well.
My name is Lisa and I was born in 1982. There were a few others in my kindergarten class, and then one or two in middle school, but after that I have only met a few of other Lisas throughout my adult life. I've always liked my name. My biggest complaint, and it's pretty minor, is that my middle name is Marie. So naturally people ask if my parents named me after Lisa Marie Presley (they didn't). As it is, I like my middle name too.
I like my name (Kristin) but hated that it was always misspelled (Kristen, Christin, Kirsten...) since there were a million ways to spell it and it was so popular in the 80's.
I like my name. I knew plenty. We always had the -in vs. -en debate. I was always of the opinion that it makes more phonetic sense to spell it Kristin. Oh, well...
I completely agree with you. (I spell my name Kristin also) funny fact, I'm also married to a Jason. (Although he spells it like this)
I love my name. It is common enough that nobody will look at me like I'm crazy when I introduce myself, yet uncommon enough that I rarely run into anyone with my name. It was ranked 142 at its peak, 431 the year I was born, and has steadily declined since.
I love my name. Until ICarly came out and then all the jokes starting to rise. Also, growing up, people would always misspell my name as, Carley or Karlee.
But for being born to a teen mom, my mother did great on picking a normal name and spelling it correctly.
I'm not a fan of how it's misspelled/mispronounced/misheard-- Lynette, Jeanette, Annette, Danette, etc. And I hated not finding premade personalized stuff growing up, but otherwise I like it.

Me too, LOL! It's fine, but definitely dated IMO. I actually met a 4 YO girl named Heather last week.... Very odd!

It's Lauren and I love my name! I feel like I don't enunciate my words enough because often I hear "what was that? Laura? Lori?"
Best ones i've heard in my life are:
Lion and Lordy (turned into my nn)
Q-tips + attention = hearing "lauren"
