Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

baby aspirin?

I had my d& c 42 days ago, but still no period.  My doctor won't do a follow up until after I get it.  My friends that have also had fertility issues/miscarriages keep telling me to be my own advocate, so I am trying.  I have researched a lot and have spoken to so many women who are all in our boat.  Many are on a very low dose of baby aspirin (81mg).  These were not prescribed by my doctor, but I figure they can't hurt, right?  Has anyone else tried them, or plan to?  Thanks!

Re: baby aspirin?

  • Sorry you are going through this....I have no advice. If they won't see you...will they at least have someone call you back? Can you ask them?

I have my post op appointment a week from today and planned to ask about baby aspirin then.

  •  I take baby aspirin on a daily basis since my first Miscarriage. The only reason you should be on it is if there is a problem such as blood disorder (Like me).

If it helps Im 2.5 months out and it seems Ive yet to get my AF.

  • Absolutely do NOT take baby aspirin or anything without your doctor's approval. If not needed baby aspirin can actually increase your chances of miscarriage.

  • I find it odd that your Dr. won't do a follow up until you get your period. I have a followup next week, just past 2 weeks after my d&c.

    Started TTC July 2012. Missed m/c & d&c 9/12 11w. Natural m/c 1/13 6w. Chemical pgs 3/13 & 8/13 around 4w. Currently TTA while saving for adoption.

  • After our third loss I put myself on baby aspirin. Then after our 4th we were finally refereed to an RE who suggested it (fortunately I was already on it).  They won't hurt you.

  • I agree with PP, is kind of odd that your OB will not see you until AF. I had a follow up 2 weeks after.  I would see another OB.

Baby Aspirin ~ My OB put me on it, I don't have any blood issues but he said in his opinion it reduced the chances of MC.  I have done my own researched and found that it does helps but if taken for a long period of time it actually contributes to MC - Go figure - I got a second opinion and that OB told me not to take it until I was ready TTC again.  He said only take through the first trimester and I should be fine.

    Hope this helps.

To each their own but if it's not doctor ordered no one should take it. Telling someone "it can't hurt you" isn't wise. I've had two separate REs tell me NOT to take it as it could hurt my baby. You really have to be careful giving medical advice. The best rule of thumb is to ask YOUR doctor.
