I'm 16.5 weeks and am having a hard time telling where the top of my uterus is right now. I definetely have a bump, but it's not hard like I would have though. How can you tell how high your uterus is.
where your OB puts the doppler to listen to the HB- that is where your uterus is. Still quite low by now. A bump at this point is usually the uterus pushing all the other stuff up.
Here is how to measure: first you need a measuring tape that has cm. Next if you are 16 weeks the top of your uterus should be about 16 cm above your pubic bone. The average is 1cm for every week. So zero cm will start at the top of your pubic bone. This might help you get a better idea of where you should be looking. You will end up somewhere between 1 and 3 finger breadths below your belly button... guessing on that.
Pretty much halfway between your pubic bone and your belly button. So if you have any kind of a bump, it'll still be rather low. By 20 weeks though, baby should have reached as far up as your belly button Or so I'm told.

good luck.
This. However, if you've had multiple children back to back, it's perfectly normal for your uterus to measure a little further. For example: I'm on baby # 6, my oldest is 7 to give you an idea how close my pregnancies follow each other. At my 16 week checkup yesterday my midwife commented on how high my bump was and measured my fundal height just for grins.... it's measuring 20wks, right at my belly button. Baby is measuring right on par for my LMP and EDD & fluid levels are normal... my uterus just gets a little ahead of itself now, lol.
