Cussing around baby

If you do this, do you have an idea of a time in which you will stop or will continue with normal dirty language?
We have potty mouths and always say we will have to stop when she's old enough to start really listening but I don't know when that'll be ?

    we're trying to curb it now so its habit for us when shes older, but i fear the words we subsitute will become swears for her lol

    This!  We figure if we work on it now then it wont be so hard later.  We still slip up a lot but we are improving!!

I don't swear a lot but I'm working on eliminating it all now, because when he starts picking up on it, I don't want to slip and him to repeat. It was disgusting listening to that kind of language coming from a child.

    Please tell me the mom at least pretended to be embarassed...sheesh!

    I am trying to do it as little as possible, and get DH on board too. LO is already copying some of my habits, the way I rub my face for example so I'm sure if I was swearing a lot he'd also be taking that on board.

    Aw man, this is a hot topic at my house.  Both DH and I have a colorful vocabulary.  However, like MM, I have a great "on and off" switch from working with kids, but it hasn't stuck in the off position so far with baby around....   There's talk of a swear jar, but we don't seem to be taking ourselves seriously.

     These stories of little kids swearing have helped.  A lot.  FFS.

    We aren't too much of potty mouths ourselves, but I have a friend I try to avoid because she has an embarrassingly large potty mouth.  I think once LO starts becoming more of a baby rather than an "infant" will be when I really starting hold back.  I don't know exactly when that transition will be though...

    DS1 is 3 and I have a time keeping my language clean. Actually today, he dropped something and said dammmit. It was hard not to laugh

    I'm a little concerned about this cuz my on-off switch broke a long time ago! I feel horrible when I still slip in front of my best friend's 18month old. It's really bad but DH and I are trying to work on it..kinda. The sucky thing is that DHs family is really bad about censoring in front of children, but luckily his 9 yr old nephew doesn't curse at all and is still a very sweet kid despite the family's habits.
