Losing weight?

Is anyone else losing weight? As of my OB appt at the beginning of Sept I was up 1 lb to 139, yesterday I weighed and I was at 137.5, today I'm at 134! What is going on? I do remember having trouble gaining weight with DD, but wondered if anyone else is going the wrong direction in the weight department? I eat when I'm hungry, and I swear this is NOT an AW post!!

Re: Losing weight?

  • I have been sick everyday for 2 months now...and I've lost 12 pounds so far. I have literally tried every remedy that anyone has mentioned and it's just not working :/ It is scaring me...I have an appt on the 25thhopefully they'll have some advice for me.

  • I am too. Im almost down 10 lbs now as of this morning. At my dr apt 2 1/2 weeks ago it was around 5. He said I should gain at least that back by my next visit. Well doesn't look like that Is going to happen.

I am thinking mine is partially due to my big cut down in carbs and sugar. But I have no clue

  • I'm still down 4 to 5 pounds from before I got pregnant. At my last appointment almost a month ago I was told to gain 4 pounds and I have lost 1 since then.

If it makes you feel better, this exact same thing happened with my DS and when we had our AS he was in the 75 percent! Baby will take what he or she needs!

  • Ok I do remember having trouble gaining weight with DD, but by the time she came I had gained 30 lbs, lol. This does make me feel better. I eat when I'm hungry, and it seems like sometimes I'm hungry all the time.
  • I have also lost weight but I did the same thing with DS. My doctor said that it is probably due to eating better. I do cut out alot of the junk when I am pregnant, as I should all of the time. Don't stress about it, as long as you are not feeling overly hungry and are drinking plenty of water you will be fine.

  • Between my first and second appointment my doctor said I lost weight as well. He said not to worry because the weight WILL BE gained back in the second trimester one way or another. But just as stated before I chalked it up to eating better because I eat more fruits and veggies and drink WAY MORE water now that I'm with child.

Right over here! I just had my daughter in April, and my weight going into this pregnancy was 170. I am tall, so I'm so lucky I carry it well. lol. As of this morning, I am 163.
  • I'm currently down 17 from my pre-pregnancy weight. My doctor said not to worry unless I still lose weight after 20 wks. With DS, I lost 11, gained it all back plus 10lbs. He was born at 8 lbs 10 oz. I'm sure at the end I will be glad I didn't gain so much.
  • I always lose weight while pregnant and generally gain very slowly until the very end. My midwives are never concerned- as long as you know you are eating healthy and when hungry, not purposely restricting, then your body will do what it needs to do. At this point in the gain weight gain should be minimal anyway- plus everyone gains at different times. Some women gain a lot early on but plateau, some dont gain until the end, some gain steadily throughout- unless your dr is worried then I would just keep doing what you are doing.

  • Ok. Glad to hear others are having a similar experience. I am not eating particularly healthy, still having a lot of aversions. All the emails I get said I should have gained 5 lbs by now, so I guess I'll keep on keeping on.
  • I've lost about ten pounds so far. I'm chalking it up to eating better. Before we got pregnant, since it was a surprise, I wasn't doing the best job with keeping my blood glucose under control (a few days before the HPT, when I was sure that the cramping I was feeling was my period about to start up, I downed a pint of shrimp fried rice in a hormone induced carb need). As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I cut that *** out because of the heightened risk of miscarriage, birth defects, and abnormally ginormous babies that come with out of control blood sugar. My doctors so far don't seem to be concerned. They said that most of the weight gain should be in the later trimesters and as long as the baby is looking healthy and you're not starving, there shouldn't be too much of a problem with early weight loss.

If you're really worried, you could request to see a dietician? I was referred to one anyway because of diabetes and there's one that works at the high risk clinic I go to, so it's become just another part of my prenatal appointments. I've kept a food log of everything I eat since I was diagnosed a few years ago with diabetes, so I had that to show her. She said that I was actually not hitting my calorie needs, and asked me to up the amount of protein I was getting in meals. She also had some helpful advice when I told her about the food aversions I was having (especially the smell of cooking chicken).

  • I am/have been.  I gained almost 10 lbs on our honeymoon where we conceived and within a week of being home and not eating like crap and drinking alcohol, I dropped all 10 lbs like nothing.  I've lost 3 more since then and I'm 1 lb under what I'm considering my "pre-pregnancy weight" which was 117 so I'm tiny and 10 lbs on me is a big deal.  I just made them test my thyroid levels and that should be back in a few days (I had a lot of other symptoms of that as well).

With DD I had probably gained almost 5-8 lbs at this point.  They didn't say they were worried but I'm a hypochondriac and look more at the big picture rather than simply losing 3 lbs.  (BTW when I went to my appointment I had just eaten a huge lunch and was in scrubs with a shirt underneath when I usually weigh myself naked and it was still 3 lbs less than my previous appointment).
