Right. but, booing and hissing? Being the sorority girl that you are Scout, you know what booing and hissing means as well as, I do. That's tough to swallow.

How do you feel about the DNC booing and hissing Christians?
....just curious.
I haven't even been able to watch the convention. It gets me too upset/worked up before sleep. Ugh.
OUgrad, where have you been?
Hi doll! I booked a Disney vacation for NEXT Christmas and I've been playing on the Disney discussion boards in my spare time. lol- I've thought about you several times tough. : )

Uh, maybe the wrong Scout? I was never in a sorority.
I find the idea that booing and hissing is somehow more offensive than actually trying to enact laws that discriminate against others, rooted in supposed "Christian" values, pretty laughable.
But then, I doubt you and I are going to agree on this one.
Sorry for mistaking you for someone else. I debated whether to post this but, wanted to hear a reaction from the ladies who considered themselves Christian and Democratic.
Hey, I am Republican but, I am taking the time to listen to the Dem POV...it's not making a good impression.

I admit I haven't watched much of the conventions. But are you talking about the Christian group that was protesting at the convention? Protesting the Democrats supporting same sex marriage and abortion.
If this is what you are talking about, as a Christian myself I am ok with them getting booed.

As usual, I must agree with scout.
I am a Christian and don't believe that Jesus wanted us to legislate the way someone loves. I think this idea applies to all of the hot button social topics, from welfare to gay marriage to abortion.

Definitely about perspective. I've thought the DNC has been inspirational. I couldn't watch the RNC for more than 5 minutes without throwing something at the tv.

Disney sounds amazing. I can't wait to take the kiddos. The good news? I took DD to preschool and WALKED the twins inside with her. I made it through the parking lot, down two flights of stairs and down a hall. No one darted and we made it back to the car unscathed. NO STROLLER! This was huge.
But I digress....the DNC convention. Hmmm....
My stroller has been sitting in the closet for about three weeks now. I haven't taken all three anywhere on my own because they are in school everyday from 8:30 to 11:30 and all I do is drive up and the teachers take them in and out of the car. Nonetheless, it feels so good not to have taken that dang stroller out in almost a month!
I'm so impressed that you are doing all of that on your own and they are being so cooperative. I'm jealous. : )

This whole ribbon is a prime example of why religion has no place in politics.
So, that's why they were booing?
I have no idea why they were booing, I don't have TV except Hulu and Netflix so I haven't been watching. What I am referring to is people expecting religion to be a key factor in politics for a country of people with very diverse religious standings.
Are all people, no matter their faith, supposed to ignore their beliefs when they go to the polls?

This thread is generating more questions than answers. Can someone
please explain why democrats were booing Christians? And what do
sorority girls have to do with it?

I believe booing and hissing is tacky as all shiit, but its still much much much classier than throwing peanuts at a woman and calling her an animal most likely due to race. Just a thought.

Please someone answer, is this what she's talking about? The platform changed and removed God and didn't specifically say that Jerusalem was the capital of Israel. The Dems got major flack for it. So they voted on whether to add it back in. It was a voice vote and needed two thirds majority to pass to add God back in and the Jerusalem language. It was clear that two thirds did not agree. MAYBE half. But the chairman declared it passed anyway, and some of the people who'd voted no hissed and booed.
Is THAT whatthefuck she's talking about?
"Even though the no's were again as loud if not louder than the aye's on
the third vote, Villaraigosa said he had determined that two thirds of
those present had voted in favor. Boos filled the arena in response."
I admit I haven't watched much of the conventions. But are you talking about the Christian group that was protesting at the convention? Protesting the Democrats supporting same sex marriage and abortion.

After reading the explanation, I think they were right to boo and hiss. Why put it back in if the majority doesn't agree? It's just pandering to get votes. I mean, where's the honesty in politics if the platform is just a bunch of b.s. designed to bring in votes?
Oh, right.

So they weren't booing Christianity, they were booing the fact that the party changed its stance on the inclusion of religion in the platform.
Can we not twist things? Can we just post what happened if we want people to talk about it?
I admit I haven't watched much of the conventions. But are you talking about the Christian group that was protesting at the convention? Protesting the Democrats supporting same sex marriage and abortion.

No, no, no....
You're not being helpful.
But thank you to the people who clarified. I think in this instance, the booing was justified. They weren't booing Christians/Christianity, they were booing the fact that the losing vote still won...smells like the 2000 election.

Then IMO they weren't booing "Christians" but rather the decision to reinstate the wording despite it being clear that the measure did not have two thirds majority. Or probably fifty fifty. Even though I think it was super ridiculously stupid to take those things out to begin with, political strategy speaking, I can totally see myself booing for a few seconds immediately after if I were a "no" voter.
There was widespread booing on the floor of the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte as Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa led delegates in three voice votes that sounded, at best, equally divided on whether to restore language from the party's 2008 document. Observers said the boos were directed at Villaraigosa's decision to skip a formal ballot and declare the platform amended.
We're talking about people who booed inside the convention because of the party platform taking out God and changing the position on Israel and Jerusalem right? It wasn't like picketers outside. These were Dems on the floor right?
Yes, ma'am....that is what I was posting about.

Talk about twisting the truth, OU lol!!
she probably got her "news" from some fox pundit and declared it fact. And twisted it even more.
and I still want to know what I missed out on in my sorority.
I tried googling things related to booing and hissing and sororities. Top google hit? This thread. So... yeah.
