I thought this was going to be an actual discussion, with like facts and stuff. (Is that sorority enough? I never joined one). I feel very let down right now.
Does booing and hissing mean something different in sorority land?
As for the question, if that happened then the people who did it areassholes, obviously. Just like the people who stand outside PP and harrass women going in areassholes. Every group hasassholes.
I'm a Christian and a Democrat and I dislike when ANYBODY boos ANYBODY else. But please don't pretend, OU, that the RNC wasn't full of boos and hisses as well.
Now tell me about these Christians? I'm going to need to know more before I get het up about it.
Please respond at least to the boo/hiss sorority debacle so we can all move on! If you don't want to discuss your take on the rest of it anymore, fine, but we need this cleared up.
My best guess: the sorority ladies were let in on secrets only belonging to those properly initiated and we can't be entrusted with their hidden language. I think I can crack their code, though. Booing and hissing is bad.
Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
We're talking about people who booed inside the convention because of the party platform taking out God and changing the position on Israel and Jerusalem right? It wasn't like picketers outside. These were Dems on the floor right?
Yes, ma'am....that is what I was posting about.
But your OP wasn't factual. They didn't boo Christians, they booed a questionable decision to put faith back in the platform. That's not even close to being the same thing.
Dude. The Christians did the booing and lamenting yesterday to put God back into a political party's political platform in a nation that practices a separation of God and state.
As a Christian - an active one - I'd boo that too.

This thread is generating more questions than answers. Can someone
please explain why democrats were booing Christians? And what do
sorority girls have to do with it?
My comparison to booing and hissing was generated from what the delegates did when the convention asked them if they wanted to include "God" and Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel. They voted THREE different times and the delegates booed and hissed with all three votes showing that they agreed...meaning, they did NOT want the word, "God" and they DID NOT want Jerusalem recognized as the capitol of Israel in the democratic platform for this election term.
The booing and hissing that the delegates did reminded me of sorority rush...idiotic and stupid showing of disagreement...especially, the strong discount over the founding principles of our country.
That is what the initial and continued sentiment of this post is over-the founding principals of our country. The comparison of sorority rush is obviously not a good one here...it was just the first thing that came to mind when I saw the delegates booing and hissing.

Considering several people on here were also in sororities and have no clue what you're talking about, OU, I would assume that whatever the secret boo-hiss thingy is, it only applied to your sorority.

Look, I'm voting Romney but I don't agree with you here. I've watched the video. I heard "Aye!" And "Nay'" and after it was announced that the motion (to add back in "God" and the Jerusalem language) had passed, I heard booing. I heard no other booing. But even if they had, THAT part of the story is a non-issue. The real story is that they took it out in the first place and then that they put it back in only because of political backlash, and that they added it back despite it clearly not having two thirds majority. The booing afterward is pretty natural, I would think.
I politely disagree with you. Why would you have to vote to add "God" back into an entire convention ballot?
....when has faith ever come down to a vote-this is the first time in our 250 year history.

I've found this thread very hard to swallow and I wasn't in a sorority. I'm glad that I made it to the end for the explanation of the relation to boo/hiss.
As a Christian and a Republican, how do you feel about Ann Coulter's tweet?
I haven't seen it yet. I can only imagine.

They have to vote to make any changes, regardless of what they are. I also think the booing was in response to the actual process and not directed at God or Christians. They voted, more people voted no, they put it back into the platform anyway, and people were (rightfully) pissed.
holy sh?t I just looked at her twitter page. That woman is pure evil.
FFS, I just read it. "To get Clinton to speak at the DNC, Obama had to agree to carry his bags." WTAF?
If pure evil = horrible despicable waste of space, then yeah.
And this tweet just proves it.

Wow. I cannot believe how twisted this got. Democrats were not booing Christians, they were booing a gerrymandered attempt to shove religion into secular policy. I'm not really a booing person (I agree with pp, it's tacky), but if I was going to boo something, then this is the sort of thing I would boo.
Also, sorority girls - giggity giggity.

Not watching because I have exactly 0 shits to give right about now. But I would venture a guess they are booing not Christians but "Christians" who jacked American politics and who will not be happy until we're all on our knees in abject submission. Regardless, it does nothing to dispel the image of Liberals as godless savages, so they probably should have shut up. But I don't think it matters because the "Christians" would believe they are godless monsters anyway since they are ignorant slobs.
Far more noteworthy is ou trying to play gotcha. How do you feel as a Christian when they try to block the building of mosques in Tennessee, ou, or when they extol the evils of my religion? How did you feel as a Republican when they booed a gay soldier televideoing from his service in Iraq in the Rep debate or when they drafted legislation distinguishing between forcible rape and ... other rape? How do you feel as a Republican Christian when they continually try to Other Obama, hold racist signs at rallies, call him Muslim like it is an insult, and throw peanuts at black cameramen at the RNC to "feed the animals," as they put it?
You do realize God =/= Christian God? Plenty of other religions have Gods too. Not having God on the platform document wasn't a dig specifically at Christians.
Also, the "booing" after the vote was not "booing at Christians." It was booing at the fact that religion was again inserted into politics where it doesn't belong. Plenty of Christians (as well as people from other faiths) believe this.
Ann Coulter is absolute trash. I'd have sex with Sarah Palin before having coffee with Ann Coulter.
There is porn out proving she is the better lay, whereas Coulter is all withered up from lack of use due to her spending all her time crusading against anyone who doesn't think exactly like her.

I haven't heard any booing and hissing of Christians. I did hear a nun speak. And Elizabeth Warren just quoted Matthew.
How do you feel about RNC delegates throwing peanuts at a black camera woman for CNN and yelling "This is how we feed the animals?"
Oh yeah. Right. They just meant to insult the MEDIA.
Not women or people of color.

So booing and hissing in a sorority is exactly like booing and hissing in the rest of life?
It's not some weird sexual shiit?
Oh.
Sad panda.
That was really upsetting to me to hear someone that bought or was given a ticket to the RNC did this. It wasn't someone addressing the convention.
Meh, there are a few things I need to keep secret in sororityland. No need to be sad Panda....perhaps Panda needs some Paxil instead of a Fez?
