I finally had my first appt today and got to hear the heartbeat, and got to feel my little peanut by pushing on my abdomin. I cried when I heard the heartbeat.
My stepmom brought up some type of tumor that causes pregnancy symptoms when I told her and my dad about BFP, which I immediately thought hat it can't be that. This mention of the tumor has now translated into nightmares (nightmares of giving birth to a tumor instead of a baby, not finding a heartbeat and having a u/s that shows a 10lb. tumor, etc). I never thought it was really a tumor, but it got rooted in my subconscious.
But hearing that strong heartbeat (it sounded like it was in surround sound) was the best thing.

Congratulations! So glad that you got to hear it. That is weird that your stepmom would even bring up the tumor. I'm still waiting to hear my little one, my next appointment isn't till Sept. 19.

My stepmom does weird things like that. It always feels like an attempt to rain on my parade, but I know she means well; she just lacks that tact to say the things she wants to.
Hopefully it won't feel like too long until your appt.

Congrats on hearing the heartbeat and seeing your LO!! That is wonderful ) Shame on your stepmom for even saying that to you, that's just not right. You don't say that to someone in response to being told, "We're having a baby!". I think it goes beyond tact; it's just common sense.
Congrats! We are hoping to hear the heartbeat at our next appointment. I had an anterior placenta with my last pregnancy and didn't get to actually HEAR the heartbeat until almost 20 weeks! On the other hand, we did get two extra u/s because they had to use u/s to confirm the heartbeat!
And boo to your stepmom! What a way to give you nightmares! Glad you heard a strong heartbeat and you can put those nightmares to rest!
