Yeah, recycling and doing other things to not completely destroy our earth asap, coupled with eating food that comes from real sources rather than chemically engineered in a lab is for LOSERS.
...Oh wait, that's me.
Hummers (the vehicle, not the sexual act) and disposable diapers for all!! Let's trash this joint!
I didn't say GREEN people... I'm all for that. Crunchy and being green is different IMO. No need to get defensive, it's an UO, being that it's unpopular. It's ok to think differently.
Well according to a lot of people green = crunchy. You know, hippie tree huggers who want to save the planet? They're crunchy. Also, people who try to preserve our planet tend also be the ones who favor organic and natural foods, it all goes hand in hand.
And yes, it is okay to think differently (hint hint) ...no one who is "crunchy" lives on soy, twigs & berries.
I think having a gender reveal party is overkill and a little AWish. Just mynbsp;UO [;]
DH and I will certainly do something special to announce our baby's gender but I'm not going to have 15 people over for cake and ice cream.
More of a FFFC, but I secretly can't wait for the first GBCB. I'm actually internally tallying a list of who I think will go.
Excuse my n00bness and idiocy, but I checked the bump glossary and don't know what FFFC and GBCB means, lol. Please explain so I can understand you UO!

I probably should have explained myself in detail that I didn't mean green people... to me they're different. It's ok that we think differently, it'll ease the puppies and rainbows effect for a little while in this board.
My UO is when people post their betas here and ask if we think those look okay for whatever point they are in they in their pregnancy? Why didn't you ask your doctor or nurse? You would rather trust internet strangers? I understand about wanting to get varying opinions but everyone is different and every pregnancy is different.
YUP!
I don't think anyone would WANT my thoughts on betas as I've never had them drawn and have NO IDEA what "normal" is. But come ask me anyway - I'm sure Dr.Google (who I'll ask) is more reliable than your own OB...
I think anything more than 1 pregnancy ticker is overkill. Seriously, who needs 3 different tickers for the SAME pregnancy in their siggy?
Where's MirroredImage to PSA this? For real. If you want to know what fruit your LO is pick that one, or don't, but please don't use every ticker available from TB.
I don't think this was me....maybe Weez?....but I totally agree! I side eye people who do this. We get it. You're pregnant.
I just remember you for the original "there will be snark"
This will probably get me flamed for sure... but...
I'm tired of hearing about morning sickness. We get it - you have it and it sucks! I think it's totally different to post a question about "what to do if..." or a funny/interesting story about it. But these posts about "I have morning sickness and nothing tastes good and it sucks so much"... blah. Here's my last collective : Sorry about that - that sucks! Now please stop posting about it.
Puts on flame retardant clothing.
I have to agree. Odds are, most of the women on here are experiencing it to some degree and I don't think a single person actually enjoys it. But, that's how BMB's roll...when it's not m/s, it's something else. I can't wait for all the "omg!! Am I in labor?? Did I lose my mucus plug??" posts we'll get in about 7 more months haha
I was thinking these similar things. I also like to lurk the other BMB boards near us, March and now May, and it's funny how March is ahead so they are talking about making public announcements since their exiting 1st tri. May right now (besides the barrage of intro posts) also has ever other post about how many sticks everyone has pee'd on. I laughed, and then I realized we on April BMB were doing the same thing at first. I think it's ok to make these kinds of statements, but maybe not new threads, just include them in your ticker change day or something since that seems to be the best place for it? I'm sure it'll be something new every few weeks, haha!
I have a feeling this is a very unpopular opinion but....People you use so many acronyms/initialisms that I can't even read what you're writing. There are at least 3 in this thread that I not only don't know, but aren't ln the HUGE list thebump provides and even when I googled them, nothing. This especially bothers me since I read an entire thread where a girl got flamed for a typo that was interpreted as "text speak."
This will probably get me flamed for sure... but...

On a related note, I give a huge side eye to those who come on here to do the opposite. You don't have m/s? Aren't constipated? Your nipples aren't sensitive? I'm sorry, somebody call the waaaaa-mbulance.
The grass isn't always greener, people. There's been a thousand reassurances that it's totally okay to *not* have symptoms on this board, it'll be alright!
Can you tell I'm one of the bitter ones who feels like they've been hit by a Mack truck, backed up over, and left for dead? Ugh.
This. It's like, thanks for reminding me how awful I feel and that it is after noon and I'm still wearing my robe, yet you feel like you're frolicking in a field of wild daisies and you're worried if it is "OK". GAH.

Aha! Thank you
And to add on, because I seem to be the add-oner today, nothing and I repeat nothing is actually flame free. Including unpopular opinions. If you can't take the heat, don't post it.

Welcome to the internet! if you ask, someone will tell you. Or you could have kept reading and saw that someone else already did.
I've just never understood why it was so hard to type it out. We're not all on 12 key cell phones anymore (and if you are, you're not using it to post on the bump). That qwerty keyboard on our phones and computers is REALLY easy to use. Just push the buttons and watch all the pretty letters show up on the screen. Most people born after 1980 are doing it at 60 word/minute or better.

Yes, there is a little double standard of the expectation to be fluent and skilled in both English and TB acronyms . . . but it's definitely not acceptable to lack proper grammar, spelling or punctuation.

Amen. This is a first tri board (for now)--we're all nauseas. Every time I read others' stories I feel even more nauseas than before. haha

You don't have to use them when you type if you don't want to. I'm not always a huge fan either, but you're not going to change the temperature of the board. Adapt & survive or resist and be eaten.... I think that's how history says this will play out

Truth.
Feel superior if you want as you type everything out, no one will judge you [if you properly spell/punctuate ], but it's standard course to use acronyms.

Neither one really bothers me, but in response to the bolded words, I think the worry from not having any symptoms, and I will speak for myself here, is that I recently experienced a MMC and had no indication that anything was wrong EXCEPT for lack of symptoms. Everyone told me I was one of the "lucky" ones and that I should consider myself lucky that I didn't feel like sh*t all day long. Turns out, lack or loss of symptoms can be an issue, at least in my case -so I get why women post here looking for reasurrance. Personally, I feel better mentally when I feel like crap physically. At least I feel like I'm pregnant.

because it's easier to type m/s than "morning sickness" or u/s than "ultrasound", or MH/DH, my H rather than "my husband", BMB rather than "Birth Month Board". It's less keystrokes and faster.
It's just the way message boards work. I've been a part of several different ones over the years (quitting smoking, my son's BMB, a vegetarian forum, wedding planning, CD'ing (oops, cloth diapering), TTC etc and not a single one of them was without acronyms.
A lot of them I can figure out on my own but if you don't know one, just ask someone.

I still have to ask what some things mean and I've been around the block a few times (he he he....double entendre because I'm pregnant...again).
I am soooo immature sometimes!
Corny puns and double entendres make my heart happy.
I side-eye people who are SO sanctimonious about cloth diapering, living green, making their own baby food because they actually care about the health of their children (unlike those terrible parents who buy baby food), and then jump in their Hummer to go run errands. (Anna Duggar, I'm looking at you). Bearing in mind this is coming from a "moderately green" mama; I recycle, use green cleaning products, didn't cloth diaper Tony but I plan on cloth diapering our next LO, etc etc. I'm all for being environmentally friendly, but there were times when I was judged very harshly for buying disposable diapers and organic baby food. And frankly, that pissed me off. We're all trying to do our best as first time moms, and no one is perfect!

I've been on TK, TN, and TB for some time now and have a hard time separating it all from RL (real life) computer communication. Sometimes when I'm typing emails work related or personal emails, I have to stop myself from using abbreviations.
I'm a conservative. That's usually pretty unpopular.
I was going to post that I think Obama is worthless and a little bit scary, but I was afraid.
Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I am just curious as to why you consider him "scary?" I could understand why one would say "useless", but I don't get "scary"...Elaborate please, I'm interested...
Since no one else has done it yet, I'm just going to come out and say that I felt pandered to by Ann Romney during her speech the other night. She came from a wealthy family, she married into a wealthy family, she's never HAD to work or pinch pennies a day in her life. There is nothing wrong with being wealthy, but please don't pretend you understand the everyday struggles that middle class America goes through. Her message about female empowerment? Bullshit. What about women's health issues, women's reporductive rights, and gender equality in pay and employment? Oh that's right, those don't count, but hey! Ann Romney Looooooooves Women!
