Since no one else has done it yet, I'm just going to come out and say that I felt pandered to by Ann Romney during her speech the other night. She came from a wealthy family, she married into a wealthy family, she's never HAD to work or pinch pennies a day in her life. There is nothing wrong with being wealthy, but please don't pretend you understand the everyday struggles that middle class America goes through. Her message about female empowerment? Bullshit. What about women's health issues, women's reporductive rights, and gender equality in pay and employment? Oh that's right, those don't count, but hey! Ann Romney Looooooooves Women!
I'm a conservative. That's usually pretty unpopular.
I was going to post that I think Obama is worthless and a little bit scary, but I was afraid.
Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I am just curious as to why you consider him "scary?" I could understand why one would say "useless", but I don't get "scary"...Elaborate please, I'm interested...
I find him a little scary because of the weird hero worship that has gone on since he came in the spot light. He's been called the black Jesus! That is creepy! I very strongly disagree with his policies and I just feel scared by him because a great majority of people in this country (at least it feels that way in the area I live) seem to blindly follow whatever the man says and not question anything that comes out of his mouth. I don't think he's the cause of a lot of the problems in this country, but I also find him to be more divisive than a lot of people think he is. And I know I'm just going to sound like a stupid whiney conservative by saying this......but I don't understand what the big deal is over showing people his birth certificate! I don't get it. We're not asking for a detailed list of your medical history, but if his citizenship is in question and he's saying that he was born in the US, then why in the world wouldn't you just show the freaking birth certificate and make everyone shut up about it??? I just don't get it. So there are some of the reasons I find him scary. I probably have made myself a lot of enemies in saying all of this and that's fine. I respect YOUR opinion on politics, so even if you disagree with mine, please have some respect for me with your responses.

I have two saved up from this week and I actually remembered them today!!
1. I don't understand the point of naming your kid and then calling them by their initials instead (ex: Denise John Smith and then planning on calling him DJ) The only time I can see the point is if you're carrying down a name that you don't particularly love (or if you're naming a Jr), and you prefer to call them by their initials rather than the name. But other than that, I don't understand the point. I have a friend who named their baby Aurora because she loves the name, but she calls her AJ. (???)
2. I think skull & crossbones on baby attire is unfitting. I don't know why, I just do.
So if I wanted to call my son AJ should I just have named him AJ? Do explain.

The natural deodorant wearers, I understand why . . . but what else?
[getting testy as a moderately crunchy mama ]
Lol, the natural deoderant wearers are exactly what I was thinking of. The people who ONLY buy organic and will not touch anything else. The people who don't eat anything other than tofu or soy, who only eat twigs and berries for breakfast... and so on.
I don't consider people who cloth diaper and buy the ocassional organic choices, just FYI. Just the extreme crunchies.
I live in a mecca of crunch, and I still don't know anyone that extreme. It's just all about making better/more natural choices when you can.
I lived in in too, right in L.A...the family members on my mom's side are that extreme. They didn't wear deoderant at all, I actually would have been for the unscented/natural choice compared to none at all. I hate stinky hugs.
I LOVE my natural deodorant. Smells like rosemary! To each their own, sisters

I don't know why that would make him scary or worthless. People who follow him blindly are the stupid ones. Obviously that is your opinion, but you list no real facts in your entire post, plus the fact that you didn't know he had already released his birth certificate. I think that is the problem with most Americans - listening to sound bytes and worthless media outlets and forming opinions based on those. That is the scary and worthless part to me.

Well said. Anyone who follows political leaders blindly are the stupid ones, no matter what side you are on.
my uo: I am looking forward to after the election. How do I always end up pg and on the bump during a presidential election???
Ha! Me too!
Oh man, get busy at work and miss out on all the fun!
But hey.. I'm looking forward to the election too.. I can only imagine the posts that will appear..
I may have started it by saying I'm conservative, but I keep my hands clean of politics and TB. I too have always ended up pregnant during election season and presidential elections! No one is going to change dead set minds.
Those little stick figure stickers of your family for car windows? I think they're annoying and pointless. And if you have your names by it? You're just asking for you're kid to get kidnapped. "Hey, Braden. I'm a friend of your mom's. Come get in my van.")
This will probably get me flamed for sure... but...
I'm tired of hearing about morning sickness. We get it - you have it and it sucks! I think it's totally different to post a question about "what to do if..." or a funny/interesting story about it. But these posts about "I have morning sickness and nothing tastes good and it sucks so much"... blah. Here's my last collective : Sorry about that - that sucks! Now please stop posting about it.
Puts on flame retardant clothing.
I have to agree. Odds are, most of the women on here are experiencing it to some degree and I don't think a single person actually enjoys it. But, that's how BMB's roll...when it's not m/s, it's something else. I can't wait for all the "omg!! Am I in labor?? Did I lose my mucus plug??" posts we'll get in about 7 more months haha
LMAO at both of these! So true.

I recently switched to a natural deodorant and don't regret it one bit. I think it smells good, although I might have to reaply once if I'm exercising. I do get more sweaty, but I don't sweat that much to begin with. The skin in my underarms is also not so irritated.
My UO: Along the lines of people boasting about how they have no symptoms... I get so annoyed when anyone talks about how easy something was for them. My MIL talks about how easy it was for her to get pregnant, how she never had m/s, and how easybreastfeeding was and "Doesn't understand how other women have problems, you just put the baby to your boob and they eat."
Seriously? Maybe it's true, maybe you have amnesia, but thanks for sharing either way....

Oh I love GBCBs....we didn't have any really on my last BMB (which is still active). We were all pretty tame for the most part. We were able to disagree and argue without anyone getting their panties in a bunch.

I'm sure she just forgets....breastfeeding was one of the hardest things I've done, in the first two weeks or so. Looking back now though, I don't remember it being incredibly difficult....but I remember saying it at the time, so I know it was difficult. You just forget about those things so easily...even just a year later.

I agree 100% with this! Everyone has varying symptoms. I'm tired of hearing "I'm so sick, tired, hungry, nauseous, bloated." But on the other hand I'm totally tired of the "WTF is wrong with me am I miscarrying I have no symptoms I wish I felt sick so I would know my baby is ok."

I can't stand the "I had an appt today...it went great!" and then that's it. Like people seriously care that you had a good appt today. I mean it's great and all that you had an uneventful appt, don't get me wrong...but we don't need a post after every persons appt.
This is not in reference to anyone reporting about a great appt after fear of spotting, etc...those I can understand, as people are looking for updates.
I think I just fell in love with Thursdays! My UO is if you are still in the 1st trimester, it is entirely too early to be picking names, nurseries, registeries, etc. Anything can happen to anyone in the 1st trimester- at this point you have hope but no one knows that they are going to get to take home a baby.

I hear you on this one and I definitely wasn't planning on posting any more appt info after today's 1st U/S. Today was just a HUGE milestone for me b/c I was literally expecting the worst- ie:the sac being empty/molar, ectopic and b/c I'm advanced maternal age I've been on pins and needles, worried to death. So today was a weight lifted and a total mental and emotional shift after my appt.
Here's mine: I hate how politics invades totally unrelated boards. I'm here about babies (or hurricanes or losing weight or whatever...) not to be preached to. The only board I've ever been on where it was tolerable was where they had a specific mega thread for politics and any political commentary outside of that thread was told to move it on over to the right place. Then I could go look at The Politics Thread if I wanted or I could ignore it.
Of course that might be because I often have unpopular and very aggressive opinions on politics. I'd rather not mix my political opinions with my baby opinions. Thank you very much.
Friends for 17 years. Married 10. TTC since Jan 2009.
2012: Lost "Peanut" at 17weeks to PTL/IC.
2013: IVF#3/FET#4 Elisabeth CJ born April 30, 2014 Cerclage, P17, and 3 months of bed rest brought us our Rainbow.
Definitely saw one of these the other day that had the father figure crossed out and "position available" written next to it. NMS, bu hey, might as well get your money's worth, am I right?
My UO? People that use the term "follower" or "sheep" to denounce people who do things that person doesn't agree with. Look - get an argument that doesn't use the same words that everyone else uses. Ironic?
Politically, I hate it when people rattle off political jargon and catch-phrases without doing anything more than reading a Yahoo or Huff Post article.
My BIL is very guilty of both.
ETA: Meant to quote one of the "stick figure family" posts in reference to the first bit!
Unpopular conservative here too. And the current president increases my ms when I think about him. Why one might ask? Well before Obama care I had great health insurance and after the passing of it I have none. My employer offered us to pay full price of 1200 a month for a family plan. So my DH had to give up his self created business and get a different job so we could have insurance. So yeah, I don't care for him.

My UO: Along the lines of people boasting about how they have no symptoms... I get so annoyed when anyone talks about how easy something was for them. My MIL talks about how easy it was for her to get pregnant, how she never had m/s, and how easy breastfeeding was and "Doesn't understand how other women have problems, you just put the baby to your boob and they eat."
Seriously? Maybe it's true, maybe you have amnesia, but thanks for sharing either way....

Oh I love GBCBs....we didn't have any really on my last BMB (which is still active). We were all pretty tame for the most part. We were able to disagree and argue without anyone getting their panties in a bunch.
I love having another Canadian on the board! (Not an unpopular opinion...just a comment!)
Me too!

I'm sure she just forgets....breastfeeding was one of the hardest things I've done, in the first two weeks or so. Looking back now though, I don't remember it being incredibly difficult....but I remember saying it at the time, so I know it was difficult. You just forget about those things so easily...even just a year later.
Ha, okay that makes sense. I just didn't understand the point. I guess it never occurred to me that people might actually want to call their kid JP, JD, AJ, DJ, MJ etc.

I'm sure this isn't an UO, but I want to complain about it anyways...
Nice! I wish I had that Praise GIF from Glee right now.
Yes! Thank you!
The end.

Cerclage, P17, and 3 months of bed rest brought us our Rainbow.
Dum spiro, spero.
