and the top girl names we love are also in the top 5 for 2011...the one we love the most is sophia...but we had decided on that before the list of names came out...so we're torn.....i don't know if i want to go with such a popular name....i mean, my name, danielle, is very popular, there were 5 of us in my graduating class, yet it was #30 on the list for 1979....but we really love the name, and it goes well with our last name- gomez
we also love olivia, again, super popular, and good friends of the family just named their baby girl olivia (she's like, 3 mos old now) so i'm not comfortable using that name, even though we only see them like, once a year
also love the name angelina, my grandmother's name, but then he wants to use his g-ma's name as well, cata (not sure if that's how it's really spelled) as the middle name...but i'm not sure i want to go down that slippery slope of naming after relatives
we seem to be drawn to girl names that end with an 'a' (i also love the name emma...again top 5)
If you really love it, I say go for it!
that's what i keep saying, then i keep doubting myself...i know i don't hear it a lot now, and neither my niece or nephew have anyone in their class named sophia. but they're also 6 and 8....
however, we have decided if we go with sophia, she gets a little handbag to walk around with and her first words have to be "picture it..sicily....." (golden girls reference- did i have to explain that?)
Ha! Love Golden Girls. An even better reason to go with the name Sophia!
We are having the hardest time with names. We had a boy named picked out that was after all 4 great-grandfathers: John Patrick (nn: Jack), but now we can't use that. Here's our girl list:
Nicole Catherine (nn: Nicky)
Addison Elizabeth (nn: Addy)
Evy Addison
Lily Addison
DH LOVES the name Addison. Ever since we started dating 10 years ago, he said he wanted to name a son Addison (because it means son of Adam- his name). I had to do some convincing over the past few years that we had to use it as a girl name. I'm a bit worried about the popularity of it, but at least its declining.
Ruth is the top runner. If we see her and she doesn't look like a Ruth than her name will be Audrey.
I think it's going to be Ruth though, because we've already taken to calling her that. (i.e. "I found a cute swing for Ruth", "How's mommy and Ruth today?" "Is Ruth liking her lunch?")
So pretty! That's the middle name we are using after DH's grandma. I love Ruth
Our little girl will be Arayah Dawn with nn Raya. We get a lot of negative feedback on it but my DH and I love it! Dawn was my MIL name. She passed away January 2010 so we love the idea of naming our LO after her. And Arayah is so different. And has substance since we have a one syllable last name.

Aelynn Marie (pronounced like Raelynn but without the R)
Marie is both my and my mom's middle names, and my paternal grandmother's first name.
I wanted to include -lynn as part of the first name because that is the middle name of DH's aunt who was like his 2nd mother, and passed away a few years ago.

IF it's a girl, she will be June Katherine. My mom's name is Julie and we really liked Julia, but thought it too similar, and June is also my mom's birth month. Katherine is my middle name but also my MIL's name (she goes by Kathy), so we feel it's a nice combination of our mother's names.

Since we are talking names what does everyone think of Evelyn Nancy? Nancy is the name of my cousin who passed from MS and I know it would mean a lot to my family and to me to include her name some how. Last name is Johnson, if that helps make the decision.

4 losses- MC in 2006, MMC in February 2012 at 12 weeks and MMC (twins) August 2016 at 12 weeks. Pregnant again- 11/7/16. Another loss on December 28, 2016.
BFP April 23, 2017. Our triple rainbow baby! EDD: January 2, 2018. It's a boy!
DH is convinced he's picking DD's name this time and so far he's said that he likes the name Kaitlyn and we will call her Katy/Kate That's been on my short list since we started having kids so I'm pretty sure that's what we're going with. Now I'll just have to figure out a middle name.
DD Kara Ashton 11/16/01
SD Karlee Nicole 11/04/00
DD Karsyn Joy 5/15/09
DS Connor Mack 2/25/11
DD Kaitlyn Mae 12/14/12
2 angels 6/2/08 and 6/9/10
My grandmother is Alice Mae! (My mother is Karen Mae, and my sister is Carolyn Mae....) Just thought it was neat that you created the same name as her mother!
Her middle name will be Diana, after my mom. First name is still up in the air. I think we'll probably end up taking a list to the hospital and choosing once we meet her. DS is a redhead (which is funny because neither DH or I am), and I think there are some names on our list that don't work if she's also red.
My sister is Eliza Catherine (after two great grandmothers) Eliza is a great name, and goes beautifully with Rose!
Thank you! Elizabeth is a longstanding family name, but I wanted to change it up. I also love that its classic, but not common
Rose was my great grandmother's name and also my sister's middle.
I'm glad to hear of another Eliza out there!
After 22 months TTC and the loss of our identical twins at 10w6d, we're excited about our rainbow baby!

Baby Girl born 1/17/13
Thanks! I go back and forth. Some days I'm all about Brynn and other days I really want to use Evelyn. Any suggestions on middle names?
I love Evelyn! If my DD wasn't Eva, baby #3 would totally be Evelyn Ann. We are having a really hard times with names, especially since we do not want to do an E name on this baby and then on baby #4.
I beg you use Evelyn Ann.

We're heavily leaning toward Jessica Charlotte, but I also could go with Nicole Erin or Nicole Elizabeth. I love Juliana, but dh isn't having it at all!
Re: S/o boy names, what are you naming your daughter?
Team Green, but top choices for now are:
Chelsea Joy
Natalie Joy
Ha! Love Golden Girls. An even better reason to go with the name Sophia!

We're stuck between:
Lydia
Delilah
and Lena
Middle name will be Jane to honor DH's older brother who passed away a few years ago.
Pleeenty of time to pick a first name, though. It could end up being anything...
Lydia was on my short list. I think its pretty and different but not weird.

She will be Charlotte Elizabeth after DH's mother and my sister.
Lots of Faith love in this thread! My name is Brittany Faith, so I must admit, good choice.
