Spent the afternoon in L&D yesterday...

I started having contractions yesterday when I got up.  They were pretty steady, and pretty painful, starting low in my belly, like menstrual cramps, and wrapping themselves up around my whole belly.  My belly was hard as a rock.  My dr`s policy is if you are having contractions, even if they are not timeable, and they don`t go away after an hour of laying down, go in to the hospital.

So my parents came for the kids, took an overnight bag for them just in case, and in we went.  I was definetly having contractions according to the moniter, and the were coming every 3-4 minutes and lasting about a minute.  I was not dialated at all, so that was good.  They did the swab test to see if I was at high risk for having baby withen the next two weeks, but it came back inconclusive, because of some blood on my cervix.

They decided to hold me there for a few hours, and when they checked me again, I was still not dialating, and the contractions were slowing down, so they told me to go home and rest.  Thankfully they stopped completely, and I was able to sleep!  It was pretty scary though, and the Dr on call was great and assured me that baby was more then big enough to do well on the outside.

On the plus side, it freaked DH out so much, that he is spending this weekend getting the baby`s room finished!  :)

  • I didn't think it was safe to have a 33 week old baby?!? Glad this experience kicked dh into gear. Men can wait until the very last minute!!!

  • Glad the baby decided to stay in for a while longer! And it's awesome that your DH decided to get some stuff done. It's an awesome feeling knowing that your man is finally feeling the urgency of getting stuff done for LO's arrival.

  • Good to hear that the contractions stopped. Take care and rest!
