I used the one on the Bump, and it said boy (which we are having!). And then I checked it with the one from Babycenter because it claimed to calculate your Chinese age, and it said boy also! It's also been correct for two friends! Have fun!
The bump gender chart says girl for me, but other online charts that go by Lunar age all say boy. I guess one of the versions of the CGC will be right for me....I find out the sex in a couple of weeks.
For S, it said girl, and so far, she seems to identify as a girl. I'll let you know in a few years when kiddo #2's personality comes out if the gender predictor was right or not this time around.
Oh wait - you wanted to know sex? Shrug. Still don't know. I'm team green.
I haven't been able to see if it's right for me, but I imputed my mom's info for my siblings and I, and it was wrong every time. It said my sister and I were boys and my brother was a girl. so, idk!
Mine said girl on all of them and I'm having a boy. All the Old Wive's tales were wrong too. I no longer will put stock into anything like that, the baby is what the baby is! haha

MandJS, you gotta the OP a break on this one. The name of the chart is the Chinese Gender Chart, she didn't name it.
She may not have named it, but she still could have clarified what she meant. And I DID answer her question. S is currently showing all the signs of being female, and until that changes, the Chinese Gender chart was correct for me.
So when she said "Chinese Gender Chart" she needed to clarify what she meant? I think we all know what it means. In normal (non academic) English we use the word gender to refer to both sex and the social roles. If you have adapted one usage as your darling and decided that you want that to be the only meaning for the word gender, you are going to have to do a bit more than post endlessly on a pregnancy forum.
This forum is meant to facilitate communication amongst people who are going through an extremely wonderful and stressful period of their lives. You should focus your energies on trying to honestly help people rather than take every opportunity to be a pedantic bully. Just take it easy and be reasonable...

This. And ACTUALLY honey, in the English language gender and sex are two different words. Read a book. Take a college class.
'Sex' is the anatomy you're born with.
'Gender' is the way you behave and identify with people. Do you behave and identify as a boy or girl, by social standards?

I don't know where you went to school, but where I went petty insults are not the way you respond when you disagree with someone. And you might want to take your own advice and read a book - a children's book- that teaches children to be respectful and that insulting other people who disagree with you is no way to conduct yourself. Here we have grown women acting childishly telling other women how to be mothers. The hypocrisy is astounding.
You can use the word "gender" either way you want since there ARE MULTIPLE MEANINGS IN THE DICTIONARY. You don't have to push your personal crusade on people who really just want to get some helpful advice. This is not YOUR clubhouse where you make the rules.
You are entitled to your opinions and your beliefs but we are all entitled to a forum that is free from the obnoxious correcting related to this issue that goes on all over these boards. And just to clear it up, no, I'm not new here, I'm a long time lurker who felt the need to say something.
Re: Chinese Gender Chart
It was wrong once & right once for me.

It was wrong for pregnancy #1. We aren't finding out this time so we have a while to wait and see...

Oh believe me, that wasn't an insult. But you're entitled to whatever opinion you so choose.
There is a difference. The "definition" you quoted is outdated.
