I am 37 weeks tomorrow and since the beginning of my pregnancy did not want to have another c-section. My doctor supports a VBAC, my first child was breech and that was the reason for the c-section. I'm nearing the end of the pregnancy, very uncomfortable and now I am considering scheduling an elective c-section for the ease of scheduling but also because I fear the risk of uterine rupture. My sister experienced uterine rupture with her 3rd child, she had a VBAC with her second and c-section with her first. Thankfully she and baby survived but it was a very scary. I don't want that to happen. I know there are risks for both VBAC and c-section, I'm just having a difficult time deciding what to do. Any advice would be helpful
Re: VBAC or Elective cesarean
I had an emergency CS after going into labor with DS1 who was a footling breech. DD was born 18mo later by scheduled CS. Since they were SO close together we went with the CS option. If they would have been a bit further apart I think I would have elected to try for a VBAC. DS2 will be another RCS. My doc wasn't really receptive to the idea of a VBA2C, I don't know that many are.
You may have better luck xposting this on the VBAC and CS boards, then maybe you'll get some more responses that go over the risks and benefits of both options.

It really is such a personal choice. If your care provider thinks you are a good candidate, and you are comfortable with your birth location (in terms of emergency care - if needed), then I would go for the VBAC.
I had a c/s with DD, and VBAC with DS, and I'm waiting for labor to start with this LO as I'm planning another VBAC. I've had very supportive and VBAC-experienced providers, so I'm more comfortable with having a VBAC than a RCS. My c/s experience was one of the "pearl-clutching exceptions", so for me, the decision to go for VBAC was simple. I'll spare you the details. But I do know that scheduled RCS are normally completely different experiences from unplanned or emergency c/s.

I just had my repeat cesarean last Wednesday. It was neither planned nor emergency, I had hoped for and prepared for a VBAC and my provider was very supportive but Baby A was footling breech so we anticipated a cesarean delivery in my 39th week. I went into labor on my own though and Baby A was still footling so we did the cesarean early. I'm miserable. Just like I was after my first cesarean. Except now I have twin infants to care for and a toddler who doesn't understand that I'm in pain and can't play on the floor.
I really wish I could have had a VBAC.
