I don't agree with the NCAA sanctions against Penn State. They are punishing the students and the brand new coaching staff, not the fleabag criminals who are no longer there. They are also profiting from what happened. They need to stay out of it. Let the justice system do its job.  I hate Penn State and all forms of football and would love to see them fall off the face of the earth, so this is not in any way someone defending their fav team.  I just hate how people take any shot that can, at any expense, to deepen their own pockets.

Penn State took these sanctions over a potential 4-year Death Penalty. Either punishment would hurt the current students/players and current coaching staff as well. They should have taken the death penalty.

I agree 100%.  I am not a Penn State fan, but  I feel horrible for the students and the coaching staff for being punished for someone else's well doing.  I agree taking Paterno's wins away, but the new NCAA rules are stupid.

Along with that, I could not care less about the Penn State drama.

On a board related UO - I am getting really sick of seeing the "Weight" posts, often after one was just posted.  We're all pregnant, we're all going to gain weight or lose weight if you're sick, or just eating better. If you're worried about it, ask your doctor.

Completely agree.  If people read even 1 weight related post, they would learn that weight gain/loss happens during pregnancy and completely varies.  If you are concerned, call your Dr. or ask at your appt.  When my Dr. mentions something that concerns me, I ask right then, I don't come home and ask a bunch of people on the internet.

Even though I went to a Southern Undergrad, and a Big 10 for law school...I could care less about College football.  I watch Colt's games, but only because my DH loves it...he also doesn't care about college football.    As a result, I really don't care what happens to Penn State's football program.

On a board related UO - I am getting really sick of seeing the "Weight" posts, often after one was just posted.  We're all pregnant, we're all going to gain weight or lose weight if you're sick, or just eating better. If you're worried about it, ask your doctor.

Ha!  I grew up in Columbus, OH (and still live here) and attended OSU.  I dislike football, but that's kind of blasphemy around these parts.  I just wish people would loosen up about it so I could go to game watching parties and whatnot just to eat the food and gossip rather than sit by myself in a corner while everyone pays attention the game.

ITA about the weight posts.  It makes me want to bang my head on the keyboard.  It's amazing how people just don't seem to know what's going on with their bodies.  Weight gain/loss is going to vary for everyone.  You can't really compare yourself to others and it's not necessary to freak out over a few pounds of fluctuation either way.  If there is a dramatic shift in either direction it's a concern and one that your provider is going to catch and discuss with you.

Also, I hate when people are all, "my doctor said ______" or, "they want me to come in for ________ and I'm freaking out! what does it meaaaaaan?!".

Well... did you ask your doctor?

    No.

How do you leave the office without asking for further information?!

    Why does it matter????

I don't really care about the Olympics either but DH loves them and I am sure I will be watching them ad nauseum. I do like the swimming but thats it.

I hate the weight related questions too. Everyone is losing due to m/s and I am gaining like a champ. I talked to my Dr. about it which is what I am SUPPOSED to do!!!!

I think the name The Chew is a HORRIBLE name for a talk show.

I don't get the Chik-Fil-A thing.  I recently saw an article linked on FB (maybe what akating is also referring to?) that was all whiny because of Chik-Fil-A taking flack for being "pro-traditional marriage".  It just makes me roll my eyes because CFA has every right to make a political statement if they feel the need to do so, but I (and anyone else who take offense to their position) have every right to not support their company because I don't agree with it.  Which I don't.  I also recognize that not everyone cares and that's totally fine too, but I personally can't give them my money to funnel into anti-gay organizations.  They're not the only company that I don't support because I don't agree with their politics/practices and I'm sure they won't be the last, but I don't get why that's a problem for people on the other side of it.  Just like I don't automatically assume that people who like/go to CFA support their political agenda.

But my point is, if you make it a point to let people know that you don't approve of a certain group of the population you're going to get flack for it because not everyone thinks it's an okay position to take.  Everyone should just digest the information on their own and do what they feel is right and move on.  And yes, it's old news.  The article I read recently was complaining because CFA had been denied a permit (or something) because of their political/religious/moral beliefs (which FTR, I would agree is wrong), but it's not true.  And the funny thing was that the article I read was up in arms because the "liberal media' was taking CFA's words and twisting them to bad mouth the company.  Well, the "facist permit denial" didn't happen in the first place, so now who is manufacturing propaganda?

Ugh, it's just all so dumb.

Agree with Yellow----I actually enjoy my job quite a bit so don't complain much but everyone complains, vents, gripes---whatever.  Human nature.  Just because someone complains doesn't mean they are not working hard and it doesn't mean that someone else deserves the job more.

Its kind of like the argument that we should never complain about pregnancy or our kids because some people can't get pregnant or have kids.  Give me a break.  I get not complaining about those things to your friend struggling with IF but other than that you absolutely have the right to complain.  You don't have to love every symptom of pregnancy to love being pregnant.

It is likely a matter of these individuals picking the party that they feel supports the majority of their beliefs. Maybe marriage isn't really that big of a deal for these individuals compared with  many other issues. There probably aren't many individuals out there that can say 100% of the beliefs of one party or the other align with what they believe. I think many individuals that are part of the Log Cabin Republicans just want the role of government in their lives limited and they feel that aligning with the Republican party is the best option. Though many would argue that the Libertarian Party platform is even better.

Funny, DH and I were just talking about this yesterday. He has a couple co-workers that all they do is complain about everything they do. Lately, it's got a lot worse because there's some training that they have to go through and some of them don't think it's necessary and are griping about it constantly at work. DH made the distinction that while of course everyone complains about their job you should never do it at work. It's just unprofessional. DH just complains to me after he gets off work ;) lol

I complain about my job sometimes - I'm not sure that means I don't deserve it.  (FTR I am darn good at what I do - even on the days I don't like it.)

I also complain about how difficult my toddler is sometimes, or how brainless my husband can be, or how sick this pregnancy has made me.

That doesn't mean I'm not INFINITELY grateful for all of these things.  Just means I'm human and not every day of working or parenting or marriage or pregnancy is a walk in the park.

You've never complained about your job, ever? Are you talking about people who complain in general or people who complain AND do a poor job?

I complain about my job on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. Its frustrating and Im often taken advantageof but that doesnt change the fact that I know I'm very lucky to have a job and would never take the opportunity to work for granted. I'm very, very hard working, I do not do a poor job and I always make sure my responsibilities are taken care of but Ill admit that I do complain A LOT!

Im the same way. I live in pittsburgh and I hate the Steelers which is like swearing around here. I hate going to game parties for the exact same reason. In truth inmate all sports, fortunately so does DH. But my whole family, and surrounding community for that matter, acts like sports are the end all be all of life. I hate it. Most of the time, I really could give two craps about teams and the drama that surrounds them, but the penn state situation isn't so much about the team as it is about those poor children, and that is what gets my attention.

This.  Sorry I didn't realize I left this part out. It only bothers me when they do it at work or in public places and actually say the name of where they work. It puts a bad name on the company that you work for and can actually turn off clients.

Definitely understandable, then.  ETA I only complain to my DH, mom, sister and best friend .. not in public and would never do it at work. ;)
