SOOOO We found out Saturday we were approved for a rental we applied for!!! Never in my adult life have I lived in a house this large, I can't WAIT to get all preggo-nesting and go crazy!!! My DH is super excited because since we got married, we have lived in the house I lived in pre-marriage... which to a man "isn't HIS house" which I totally understand. Not to mention it's totally crammed in the tiny little house we are in due to the fact that was all I could afford on my own! We would have moved right away but we wanted to find a place that was within budget AND fit all of us (plus location, winter access, and multiple other things we had to consider due to where we live).... WELL lets just say our patience paid off, we are getting about 1500 sq ft more than the average for our budget!!! (2850 sq ft total)
SOOOO stoked! Took kiddos to see it saturday, they are just as thrilled! No more sharing rooms and bathrooms!!!!
Now the only dilema is actually finding furniture to furnish such a large place!! lol.
Anyone ever go to a place like rent-a-center or something?? I know we really can't afford to just go out and buy a bunch of new furniture right now!
Re: WHOO HOOO Bigger house here we come!!!!
Congrats!
A
And I pressed enter. WTH!?
Try somewhere that does something like 6 months same as cash - or 0% financing for x amount of years instead of renting to own. Renting to own will cost you more in the long run.
Ashley Furniture is pretty spendy, in my opinion, but they have good deals when it comes to make payments.
When we moved up from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom house which also had a family room (FR), it was REALLY tempting to think we had to fill it right away and spend $$$ on it. Using the additional space for storage/ staging/ supply room. Can store most of the items that would normally go in the garage (if there is one) so you can fit the cars in there & have an easier time going in/out of the house in the cold months with the baby and keep both vehicles there.
After moving into our new place, DH's aunt & uncle spent a year remodeling their house and instead of putting everything into Pod storage in their driveway (and paying $$$$ and worrying about water damage/pests), the living room furniture visited our family room (it fit perfectly, super comfy, we put slip covers over them because of my cat allergies and potential of their cat's dander/hair - spent under $200 on those). We still have the 3 very nice hutches that they decided to replace & let us keep! If you have family/friends in the area, they might have items they'd be willing to loan/give. Most of our bedroom furniture (dressers, side tables) came from my in laws & had been in the family for a while. Most rooms in our house has at least one piece that came from family (a chair, dining room table, book case, coffee table)... May not be the perfect, ideal pieces, but have memories attached, and were free ....allowed more $ to be saved for if there's an emergency, a new appliance, or for a really nice piece in the years ahead.
oh, and my parents have used Rent-to-Own a few times... for newer, cheaper furniture & a television (they wanted to test out a few different sizes and types). My parents are quite responsible people, and it was obvious RTO didn't do a credit check. Instead they phoned me (I had been listed as a reference) ... I found it hugely ironic, but luckily I knew they were planning to rent the furniture.
Also, Lazy-Boy stores has sales around most major holidays, where it could be a trade in and get a discount type event, or simply a sale. Their furniture is sturdy, made in the US (if that matters for yourself), and pretty comfortable, and you can pick out a different fabric covering from their selection if you do not care for what is on items in the show room. Their arm chairs & couches can tend to be kinda bulky & we didn't realize that until we no longer had vaulted ceilings.
