My due date is 3/11 or 3/12 -- think there is a chance on baby postponing by 2 weeks? I'd love to have it born on my birthday 3/28!! It would be so special. First Pregnancy too so they say it can be late... right?
Anyone else hoping for a specific date?
Re: Due Date vs. Delivery Date
That's so funny, I am hoping for the 28th too! It's DH's b-day!
Most drs will let you go 2 weeks late before they induce you but believe me you will not want to be pregnant anymore by then!
Ha, can we ask this again in about 7 or 8 months?

I am hoping to make it to term. But yeah, I totally get wanting a specific date.
Oh, and standard 'round these parts is 42 weeks max.

I think we're all happy to have a child. It's okay for her to dream of a certain due date
That's fine....not everyone has to agree with it. I didn't say it was wrong.....

You would have to talk to your dr and find out their policies regarding going beyond your due date. Around here our hospitals don't want you to to beyond 10 days beyond your due date before an induction so getting a dr. to go beyond that is hard.
My son came at 39 weeks on the dot. I am due 03/08.... my high school boyfriend's birthday was 03/01. I do not want this child to come at 39 weeks on the dot. I would rather not have those two people share a birthday. I was laboring off and on at 36 weeks with DS though so I'm certain this babe will be a February baby.
@MrsKitton - - - I too am happy that I am able to be pregnant and hopefully have a healthy baby. But this was majorly just designed to be a fun thread to see if anyone else had any preferences to dates/days of the week/ special dates that they were "hoping to hit"
I did not say that I am going to put my baby in danger and insist that I only give birth on the 28th of March. My Dad was just teasing me about it last night and I thought it might be fun... Whenever Baby comes, Baby comes - - but it would be a cool birthday gift (even if s/he comes early)...
Hahaha...you really want to be pregnant for longer?? I didn't even make it to the end last time, but I sympathize with people who feel miserable at 38+w. The week leading up to DD's birth I had awful sciatica and was literally dragging my right leg around at work, wondering how I could possibly do this for another month and a half. Of course and then I felt guilty when I went into labor.
Seriously, as someone else said, see how you feel in a few months.

I'm due 3/11 but my dh wants me to have the baby on st pattys day. He is all about it. It is not that late but I always give him a glare but I know im not going to want to be late. Alot of people keep telling me that first babies are usually never late. Idk how true that is but we will see.

I just want to make it to the middle of February, or 37 weeks+. I think Feb 14 would be nice
(Had my first at 35 weeks and hoping to go full term this time!)
Edit: I'm weird and prefer even numbers also.
Oh man, don't count on it. I had myself SOOO sure that my second would come at least 2 weeks early because my first did. I ended up packing up all her stuff in a pregnant fury, convinced she'd be inside forever. She ended up coming at 39w4d. Both my girls actually were 39w4d. Boys were 37w6d and 35w6d.
As for the average gestation for a first pregnancy, it's 41w last I read.
I am just happy it is March so it will be 3-?-13 - I like the ring of that. St. Patrick's Day would be fun for sure...3-10-13 sounds fun as they both add up to 13 but I really don't care what day as long as the baby is born healthy and I can hold him or her in my arms!
BFP #2 - 7/1/12 - Met my lucky charm Alexandra on 3-16-13!!!
I don't think there's any way I'd want to be pregnant an extra 2 weeks!! I also don't think I'd want to share my birthday with baby (or vice versa). DH and I are already 4 days apart so we were glad the EDD ended up in March and not April. April is crazy for us so it will be nice to celebrate baby on their own in Feb or March.
ETA: Date doesn't matter at all as long as baby shows up healthy.
DD was born right on her due date, this one is due on March 20, so I'm hoping to go a few days early so I can have a St. Paddy's Day baby.
And like a few pp's have said, in my and friends' experiences, very few doctors will let you go to two full weeks late. I've seen most with a one week overdue deadline, a couple will go to 10 days.
Pregnancy is dangerous past 42 weeks because the baby's development is far enough along they start pooping in te womb and that can cause health issues. Many many doctors will allow a woman to go 41 or 42 weeks so to not intervene medically without good reason.
DD1 came three days early and was 90% for size. I hope this comes about that same time. I have heard a lot of first time moms go late, but I was fortunate. Lol

I am not too fond of 3/13/13, but otherwise, don't really have a preference.
I was born at 42 weeks gestation. My mother's placenta had begun to calcify, I was shriveled and wrinkled and red, and had lack of nutrition from the calcifying placenta. I was born at 5 lbs. 12 oz, and my mom's OB said I probably lost 1/2 to 1 pound in those last 2 weeks (this is coming from my mom, so not sure how accurate that truly is). My OB has a limit of 41 weeks I believe. Much over 41 weeks can start to get risky. Not all will have that issue, but I certainly did!

It's also because the placenta can deteriorate and that can be life threatening. Even babies born before 40w can have meconium in their fluid. It's not great, but it's not unheard of.
BFP(4) DD2 born 2.14.13 @ 35w5d due to pPROM
My doctor would NOT let me go a day over 41 weeks with my first. I had to beg and plead just to get them to agree to that. (I really didn't want to be induced.) This time I plan on just letting baby come when the time is right. I don't even have a preference at all. Hopefully just healthy!
Kind of cool thing though...My mom and dad have 5 daughters and 4 son-in-laws. The 11 of us all have even month birthdays. They now have 6 grandchildren with odd month birthdays so if my baby (#7) is born in March it will fit the family birthday pattern.
My OB generally induces a week past due (even though up to 2 weeks late is normal).
Last time, I had to be induced a month early so this time I just want to pass 37 weeks!
My baby's due 3/5. My anniversary is 3/17, my birthday (which I share with my favorite brother) is 3/18, and my 5-year-old's birthday is 2/28. So, the baby can come a week early, a couple weeks late, or right on time, and he/she will be in excellent celebrating company.
