Your LO's name---are you still happy with it?

Re: Your LO's name---are you still happy with it?

  • I love the name Harry but I wish we would have named him Harold with the nn Harry. I also am not crazy about his mn, we had 3 or 4 options still when he was born (a month early) and when they asked at the hospital I just let DH pick. I was hoping he would come around and pick something that had meaning to us but he didn't, just picked the name he liked most.

  • DD is Adriana Virginia.  I knew if we had a girl that her mn would be Virginia (after my late granny).  Because of that, I was a little more flexible with her first name.  I suggested Ariana but DH pointed out that it didn't work that well with our last name, so he suggested Adriana.  I didn't *love* it initially, but I definitely liked it enough.  But it fits her and I love it now :)

We call her Adriana or Adrie

My FIL's name is Harold and I called him Harry once and DH thought it was so weird. He insists that Harry is not a nickname for Harold. Well then what thehell is it a nickname for DH? It's funny because Harry sounds bad with our last name (Johnson) so maybe that's why DH thinks it doesn't or shouldn't be a nickname for Harold.

Anyways I think Harry is an adorable name and great on it's own!

  • I think I love DS's name now more than I did when pregnant (Kellen Ross). We couldn't agree on anything. DH and I are both teachers so we struggled to agree on a name. I knew I wanted something less common (and he liked more traditional) so when he suggested Kellen I was excited he liked something less popular. I feel that his name really fits his personality and can't imagine his name being anything else. My only issue with it is I feel when people ask what his name is I have to say it slowly and clearly because it is not a name people hear often (and if I don't they think his name is Collin or Kieren).

  • My daughter's name is Angelina Bella and I still love it, haven't found anything that I like better. She was extremely close to being Victoria, which was the name we had as the favorite from the beginning. I probably would have settled for that but something about it just didn't feel right so I kept looking.

I am still happy with it..but everyone does ask how to pronounce it, where we came up with it, etc.  Oh and someone said I am going to call her "Onion"..her name is Anya.

    I love the name Anya:)

  • I still love DD's name.. Scarlett was the only name DH and I agreed on and it suck from that moment on.. She is a red haired, fair skinned spit fire. I think it fits her perfectly, and I think in the future we are in for it:)

  • We had our girl names narrowed down to Eleanor and Amelia. I'm glad we went with Eleanor because she just is not an Amelia. DH picked her middle name - Sarah, and I'm very happy with it as well. I still sometimes wish I could have talked DH into 2 middle names.

The only thing that bothers me is when people call her EleanER. I thought I had gone over every possible thing about each name on my list, but I somehow missed that awful pronunciation.

  • We had a hard time with a boyname. Girl was brynn evy from the beginning. We chose jamis odyn. I have never heard the name before. It is his daddys middle name in 16th century scottish, (james) which is his heritage. I love his name now, at first I thought it sounded wierd, and alot of people think odyn is wierd also. I am not a huge fan but dh loves it. We call him jj and family uses little j.

  • Definitely still like Jackson Robert and it fits him well. I am OK with it being a pretty popular name. Robert is also my DH's, his dad's, and his grandpa's middle names. I thought we'd call him Jack more than we have, though.

Also, I am surprised at how many people ask me about the spelling when I tell them his name -- like is it spelled with an X or the traditional way? I didn't realize the X spelling was so popular?

  • Yup. His name is Evander Jonathan and it fits him. His MN is after my DH. Luke was our runner up (we made the final decision after he was born.) We get mostly positive reactions but some people pronounce it "Evan"-der instead of Eee-VAN-der.

  • I am still happy with it, even though it's hard for my older DD to say. She calls her O-We-We-baby instead of Olivia. Ls, Vs, and Js are hard to pronounce!

  • I waited until the day I left the hospital to name DD and I am ecstatic I took the time to decide. I had narrowed it down to two names when I went in (Bronwyn, & Greer) but when she was born I fell in love with the thought of her being a Greer.

Since I couldn't think of a beautifully flowing middle name to pair it with, Greer became her middle name. Olivia is her first and it fits, perfectly.

Every name on this board is lovely and the passion you each have for your child's name is great, they are bound to love their own names as they get older. ;)

    Absolutely.

Originally we had the girls names switched. (While in utero we were calling "A" Kara and "B" Kate.) But decided to switch them at birth given the heck Kara put me through. There's no way I can see my Kate being the ornery little Kara now. Kara fits her name very well, and so does Kate. :)

They look like their names, even though they look a lot a like. Good you switched!
  • We were team green with a boy name set in stone. We had a girl. I felt horrible after my c-section and the last thing I wanted to do was think of a baby name. DH suggested a name, and I pretty much agreed to it without even seeing her- she was in the NICU for 48 hours. DD's name so fits her- I can not imagine calling her anything else.
  • I love my DD's name, Kendall Elise. It really fits her so well. :)

  • Still love his name!  LO is Adrian Jeffrey.  One morning (while TTC) DH suggested the name Adrian.  Apparently, he read it in the newspaper.  I liked it, but didn't love it.  With time, it grew on me.  MN is DH's name.

The only problem is that some acquaintances forget his name and call him Aiden.

  • I'm really glad we picked the name Lola. My first pick was Gwen and DH's first pick was Lola. I didn't really like it at first but we decided it sounded best with her middle name - Adrienne (DH's mom's name). Even as I was signing the paperwork in the hospital, I wondered if I was doing the right thing and worried I might not like her name some day. But she has really grown into it and I absolutely love it. I could not imagine her with any other name.

Yep, still absolutely love my son's name! It was between Levi and Caleb. We chose Levi Robert. DH's name is Grant Robert. I wanted Levi Grant, but DH absolutely refused. DH wanted to name our son Robert and I said no way. We compromised!

If we had a girl, it would have been Hope. We decided on that name 4 days before delivery due to our circumstances.

Levi was not named until a few hours after he was born. We had to see him before we named him. Even after seeing him it was difficult since half his face was covered with tape holding his breathing tube in place. It's so hard to name a baby without knowing their personality! Wouldn't change a thing.

  • Margo is definitely a Margo and I still love it, maybe even more now than when I first picked it out.

  • I absolutely LOVE my daughter's name: Delali (day-LA-lee) Nahariyah (na-HAR-ee-a). Both names have very special meaning to my husband and I, as they reflect his Ghanian heritage, as well as the place we met (Israel). However, when people read the name, we get Dalilah ALOT.  It's a little annoying, as is any mispronunciation of a name for anyone, but it's easy enough to correct.  Her name definitely suits her, I think.  My cousin, when she first came to meet Delali, nicknamed her Delali-pop and Delali-lama.  I call her Delalipop now. Stick out tongue
  • I can't picture either child as another name. For DS we had 3 name options and decided once we saw him- it was either David Aaron, Henry Neal or Nicholas James and I am SO glad we picked Nicholas because it fits his personality perfectly :-)

We also had 3 name options for DD and we couldnt decide and werent feeling more in love with one of the name options so one night when I was like 34wks pg DH and I went on a date night and were talking about it and decided that we would let our midwife that delivered the baby pick the name out of a hat lol That is exactly what we did- DH wrote all 3 name options on slips of paper, stuck it in his hat and our midwife picked the name. It was really funny b/c she thought we were joking when we asked her and then once she picked a piece of paper she read her name out loud all excitedly haha  She actually picked Margaret Joanna. Our other name choices were Eleanor Rose (nn Nora) or Natalie Rose.

We have decided baby#3 will be either Henry Neal or Eleanor Rose since we are team green this time.

  • DS is Jackson Carter and we still love it! We wanted him to have a strong name, that he could do anything or be anything with. Alot of our family didn't like it in the beginning but many of them have come to us telling us how they love it and it suits him now.

  • LO is Riley.

I still have some trouble with it. However I must say it's really fitting DS and it has grown on me a lot just recently.

I just struggle with it because it's a unisex name. I don't like the idea of it being a trendy girl's name right now. I also struggle with it because there's a boy in the area that will be in DS's class named "Ryley". We live in a small community (will most likely be 20-30 in DS's graduating class) and had hoped it would at least be different than others around. It's helped that I haven't seen any girl Riley's in the area. It's a special name for DH so I'm learning to live with it. I do really like it. Just struggle with it. However I struggle with all names. I'm not sure if I've ever heard a name that I've "loved".

  • I love my son's name.  We had decided on Owen when we were first TTC.  His middle name was supposed to be my maiden name (I was really pushing for that), but a couple days before he was born DH and I were talking about names and we decided to use Harry instead.  I'm so happy we did!  I love DS's name.

I'm rather partial to the name Harry.  It was my grandfather's first name, and is my dad's middle name, which is why we chose it for DS.  I've gotten a few people who say "Harry?  Not Harold?" but for the most part people seem to like our choice.

  • I still dig his name. One thing i'm funny about is i refuse to let anyone call him nate in front of me, i know it's silly but i love his full name. Nathaniel is named after Fil, Lee is my grandpas mn. I wanted to name him Andrew Lee but dh said it sounded like a civil war general and flat out said no. I pretty much just call him sugar bear ;) i have to tell myself to call him by his name!
