"Youneek" spellings of names come up a LOT on this board, and one of the arguments in favor of them is that a different spelling makes the name more special.
So, I'm curious. Do you have a name that is spelled differently than the traditional way? And, if so, does it feel more special to you to have that spelling, or do you wish your parents had chosen to spell your name the traditional way?

Re: Is the spelling of YOUR name "youneek"?
I am not sure how "youneek" it is because there are so many ways to spell it but my middle name is Renae and I love the spelling compared to others. My sisters first name is Keri and when she was little no one spelled it that way and she was fine with that. But with both of these I know there are a lot of ways to spell each so probably not so unique but they were at the time I think!

My full name, Allison, is spelled correctly but there are multiple legit spellings. It can be annoying always spelling it for people. When I say "Allison with 2 L's and an I", people give me a blank stare so I always have to spell it out.
Most people call me Ally though. When I was little it was Allie, but when I was in middle school I thought the "y" was cute and changed how I spelled it. Unfortunately, it stuck.

No. I'm Jacqueline nn Jackie
My sister is Jeanna however- my parents J version of Gina.
My name is spelled traditionally. (and I'm glad)
Nope it's Courtney.
A tad.
My name is Kristin. The I is a tad unique, I guess. That's pretty tame in terms of crazy spellings, IMHO.
My sister is Chelsey. The Y in lieu of an A is a tad different as well. Again, pretty tame.
DH is Jayson. The Y in there is in honor of his dad, Jay. He died before Jay was born. His mom changed the spelling of Jason to suit her needs.
Both of DH's brothers have traditional names with traditional spellings.

I'm pretty sure I fall in this category with Britny. I've never seen it spelled that way, and no one has ever spelled it correctly without help. I sometimes wonder what my parents were high on when they came up with the spelling, lol.
I have mixed feelings on it. I LOVE that I've never had someone spell their name the same as me. It's unique and draws comments. But I often get annoyed when I need to spell it our every.single.time. My maiden name also needed to be spelled out, so I just got to a point where I was used to it.
Nope. My name is about as plain and straight forward as it gets.
My sister is Kari not Carrie though. However, I consider Kari well known enough that it's not youneek..I know quite a few, but I think some on the baby name board would beg to differ. She asked my parents about it once and they said they were just trying to keep it simple and didn't want any to think it was short for Caroline.

I'm Amy. I always wanted to be Aimee for some reason (no idea why). But, I always get asked "With a y?"
This is my name too and I 1000% agree with the above.
Meh... my name is Robyn which I don't think is "youneek" but it is the alternate spelling.
And my parents DID name me ROBIN but *I* changed the spelling when I was 8 years old. It was legally changed to ROBYN when I married DH.
