How are you keeping your RF-er cool in the heat?

It's going to be over 100 degrees here for the next few days- and I don't think this is the only time we will have these temps this summer. DS is 16 months and a sweaty, red faced mess whenever we go more than 10 minutes in the car. Is there some trick to keeping him cool I'm missing? I have the air cranked up, but it doesn't to seem to get to him facing backwards.

I aimed the air up a bit and that worked last summer.

I have an SUV and the air just wasn't circulating well enough so I bought a little fan that plugs into the cigarette lighter. It's helped a lot.

Luckily our backseat has air vents coming down from the ceiling of the car, just next to the door. So, I can aim it right at her.

We turn the car on about 5 minutes before we need to leave. That cools it down and the kids are fine in the back.

They also have seat coolers. I'd also suggest window shades to keep the car as shaded as possible. I agree with the plug in fans too.

My cars a/c sucks and there are no vents in the back someone suggested a foam fan to clip to the top of the carseat down or one of the back seat headrests.

I've been having the same problem as my a/c doesn't really get to the back seat anyway. I like the little fan idea!

I aimed the air up a bit and that worked last summer.

I take a wet towel with me every where we go. Every once in a while I hand it back to him and tell him to wipe his face and his arms. He's old enough now that it works. I have no idea what I'm going to do when I have a newborn in August.

I blast the AC. I freeze and basically have to shout at him to chat with him over the sound of blasting it, but he feels good.

This. DD is in the center and the fan is against the door. It may not always cool her off but it keeps the air circulating around her.

Cover the car seat w/a towel when not in use. Run the car for 5-10 mins before we go anywhere. Dress the baby in cool clothing. Accept the fact that padded car seats are hot.

We make sure DD stays hydrated, we crank the air and aim the vents up so that the air bounces from the ceiling onto the back seat.

No fans or any other add-ons. We were advised as much by the car seat installation techs. I think this is a place where our Scenera comes in handy as it has very little padding.

We live in Phoenix and will be getting DS a carseat cooler and then this other insert that is suppose to keep the moisture away from them while they are in the seat. I can't seem to find the link to it on their website anymore. But it's called the Meeno. It's a Stay-dry Wick-away Liner that is fitted for Infant Car Seats, Convertible Car Seats or Strollers. It's really lightweight & has openings for all of the safety buckles to go through. It works wonders for avoiding "Sweaty Back Syndrome"!
