Maybe I am lame but all I could think about is poor Grandma cleaning up the mess and jumping at the balloon pop. I think I am just going to text that it's a boy or girl.

PGAL/PAL Very Welcome
For I know the plans I have for you,
I think this is very AW-y. We just called our family members and let them know. And told others when they asked.
SIL had a big party and we had to record (on video) opening the envelope. I'm glad she hadn't heard about the cake and other stuff. I really don't want to eat blue or pink cake.
I jokingly told DH I wanted to do one with our next pregnancy. We would do cupcakes with green in the middle. Haha. ...I thought it was funny. It'd be such a pisser.
The sex reveal and now the name reveal (first time I've heard of that gem) are ridiculous. I get that people are excited about every little bit of their pregnancy. I was. However, I didn't delude myself that it was the #1 priority of everyone else in the world. ugh.
"Rediculously cute" is part of a sentance in this article. This is what our world is coming to.

But, they are celebrities, we should really, really CARE and get excited!!!
I am happy for them after their struggles though. But this picture is the perfect illustration of what I will NOT do to my poor friends and family.

For I know the plans I have for you,
I called my parents and then texted some close friends. Everyone else found out via FB when I posted we were expecting a princess. Nope, I am boring, unoriginal, and suck major at secrets lol
I mean, we hadn't really announced the name-- it wasn't secret, nor had we yelled it from the rooftops-- but at my baby shower, I put out wooden alphabet blocks spelling out her name next to one of those frames for guests to sign. I wouldn't hold a special party to announce it (nor would I have a gender reveal party), but people were definitely excited dto learn her name at the shower.
I laughed a co-worker out of here just the other day for showing me a video of his gender reveal party.
BWAHAHAHA!
So HE had to make you watch a video OF the gender reveal since you weren't there?? Its not like anybody was actually having a kid yet!! Oh for Heaven's sake!!!! I am so glad you laughed at him. I am so out of patience with people I dont know what I would have done.
Incidentally, I like your ticker, I think I might finally put one up.

For I know the plans I have for you,
I am against making a big deal about gender reveal and name reveals because I plan to have more children and I like to set the bar low. If did a fancy reveal for my first kid I would feel kinda bad not doing for my second kid and third and so on. I think gender reveal parties are really stupid .

I'll admit that I think they are cute, but now I can't do one because you will all judge me!

My hypothetical pregnancy is going to suck because you guys won't let me have any AW-y fun! Don't you know my pregnancy is going to be the ZOMG most important thing ever?!?! HMPH!

Oh, please, we'll be throwing you an e-party for that stuff!

This is actually kind of cute and sweet. It's actually kind of a neat "party favor," in a way. Besides, the shower is already supposed to be all about AWing the mom and the future baby.
But a separate party or announcement - that's a problem for me.
Gender reveal parties are a bit much, but I'm all for a cute photoshoot, mostly to save as a reminder and to capture the parent's reaction to learning what they are having.

I agree, perfectly acceptable. Baby stuff at a baby shower about the baby to be- that's what baby showers are for.

For I know the plans I have for you,
We did strawberry cupcakes for Z. We were going to be with family anyway.
ETA: It was Christmas time and my fat arse wanted cupcakes!
Also perfectly fine, imo.

This is a really sweet idea. If I were to have made one of those name reveal photos, my family would have taken it as fair game to discuss why such and such name was crossed off the list and how much they preferred it to the one we chose. Hell to the no.
My sister and her H had the u/s tech put the sex of the baby in an envelope and they wrapped it up for Xmas. It was just the two of them and DD and I thought it was cute.
Thats different. That's between a couple.
For DS, we had the tech put the gender in an envelope, we had lunch at the park and opened it. No pomp and circumstance, just me and my husband. It wasn't a party, nobody else involved.

Re: Do people actually do this? Did you? Gender reveal
I like the idea of a cute gender reveal, but the balloon thing is NMS. The first time (with DD) we just called people and told them.
Next time if we do anything at all, I think we'll do the cake thing--where the inside is iced with pink or blue.

I blame the Duggars. They're the first ones I heard of using the cake a few years ago. It's gotten out of control since then.
yes your children.
But not grandma.
Unless you don't want her to live to see the kid.
